A website.
Yes, yet another website.
But not just a normal website. No, this website is much, much more. This website has an easy-to-upload and edit system, much like BYONDBwicki, but it is tied into a Dream Maker program. While I don't know how feasable the idea is... the basics are simply to upload your code, share, edit, assist in fixing errors. This would of course be rather dangerous, but, that is why I need replies.

I've been using story boxes in BYOND Tabletop Gaming for this purpose recently. Everyone can share code, edit it, and save it to play with later. It looks best in a monospace font.

A website. Pretty interesting thought! Basically a collaborative project, right? It would be dangerous, yes -- you should only allow certain people to access it. =) It's possible in BYOND terms, but the compiling is a bit difficult. I'm not sure if the Linux version of DreamMaker is a command-line compiler or not, but if it was, your idea would be completely feasible, if not a little difficult if you aren't wise in the ways of BYOND CGI. =) |
I'm excited to say that such a project is already in the works! The TextMUD 2.5 website is totally generated using BYOND CGI, and runs using 2 programs -- 1 which accesses, parses, and sends the pages, and the other one that creates and edits them. No HTML is needed to create a page. For a sneak-peek, here are a few interisting featurs of the TextMUD 2.5 website:
The website will be open to the public the day that TextMUD 2.5 is released, but expect to see more little sneek peeks along the way! -Lord of Water |
