What the heck?? I go to the hub and I see 2 original games and like 15 DBZ games... This is getting pathetic, can't you people use the brain God gave you and be creative? I'm not dissing anyone, or dbz, but this is just rediculous... It's like having a crowded city with 9 post office's and 1 grocery store. I mean come on, a few dbz games is tollerable, but we're up to our necks in dbz games.

Amen.
What can we do to stop this terrible tyranny of horrible hack jobs starting Super Sayans and substandard spelling? Make original games better than the DBZ fangames. You wouldn't *think* that it's hard, but apparently it is, considering the lack of them. |

A very long line of ancestors who combined genes through many many years gave me this brain. Besides, if you dont like it you dont have to play it. If you dont want to see it, cover it with your hand and use the other to scroll down the page. |
It'd be wonderful if that would happen, but what you're saying here is something that's been repeated at least a dozen times in the past. It hasn't happened. I'm now stooped with the opinion that the only way to get away from DBZ games is to get away from the community. Thus, I'm pushing to break BYOND as a program away from BYOND as a community so I don't have to be dragged wherever the community goes, just because I want to use the program.

Not to sound like I am totally FOR DBZ games, which I'm not, in fact, I only have one possible DBZ project that is purely original, a fan game based on Animorphs, and my original RPG. |

Well, im making a DBZgame, but its not an RPG you cant go ssj, you cant be a saiyain or any character from the DB saga, it *should* rule, problem is decidin wether to make it 1 player or multiplayer :D |

I suspect the real key is to attract more non-DBZers to the fold. The DBZer segment of the community serves as its own support base right now, and because I think they constitute a sizeable minority if not a majority, they tend to... well, be themselves, and all that implies. I think that as more and better legitimate games start appearing, the DBZers will begin to feel as marginalized as they by all rights should be; we'll never be totally rid of DBZ, but there should be enough good content to drown them out. Currently a few games have (and some might continue to) attract massive amounts of users. Hedgerow Hall, by Lesbian Assassin is a very good example, easily getting 20+ players on at once. The Trinity Star, one of my own creations, when it came out and was being updated regularly, there were 10-15 people online at most "busy" hours of the day, and I believe I recorded 42 at one point. My Life As A Spy is another fine game, although personally, I think they need to get the server up, rather than all this host it 5 hours a week when everyone would rather be out on dates :P (Yes, thats me, thank you). It's easy enough to make a good game, just take a good concept, and create a good game around it. I made Trinity Star after about 3 months of DM coding, and it turned out great. I'm currently working on a text MUD, because that will draw massive amounts of "dedicated" players to the system, especially if I manage to do a good job. Anyways, blah blah, etc. etc..
