Hows this for a thought.. I need some codersfor a game.

Each Coder would make One section. like.. verbs... map, quests, levels, abilities.. and whatnot..

Upon the very first release of beta testing neither coder would be knowing how the ending product will appear.

They would be licensed to the game as a team.
the game itself licensed to Anarchy-Games

Coders will be paid in tips. so all who donate (for items) or for just donating will have their dimes go into a pool and that pool is separated at the end of every week and the money is sent to each coder on a continued basis.

1 server, only 1 game. nobody is left out, nobody is banned. simple common sense rules.

This would be one of the first large joint projects in byond.

So give me feedback, what do you all think?

I won't lie, I have no idea what you mean.
Make your own game.
Since I can't very well comment honestly on some of the other things without violating decorum, I'll just say this: The idea of programmers working on completely separate pieces of code and not knowing the final product is bogus. Code has a tendency to intertwine, and debugging really requires an integrated team effort.

Except for that part of the idea, the concept of a massive cooperative game project for BYOND sounds like it'd be decent, if someone like Guy or Shadowdarke or Zilal or Dantom were to head it up, and choose the best programmers to work with them.

1 lead coder
1 map maker
1 icon maker
1 verb coder
1 variable mapper
1 proc organizer
1 mob organizer

after all the pieces of the code are done.. the lead coder receives the pieces and places them together. fixes bugs, makes it all come together..

Lets say people donate 10 dimes all week..

the dimes would be split up amongst the coders.

The coders have authority over the game , and maintain the one original and only server

doing things this way would speed things up considerably, and since i have Anarchy-Games a real registered company all who code for it are legally protected

Ok bad example, yes they would all know the final outcome of what the aim is. but only if they are gonna stay with it.

Ill have them sign an NDA, id have a lawyer friend write one up for me

And im one of the oldest players on byond. who are still active.

And those people you suggested, except for dantom probably wouldnt be able to code this way. They are used to coding things themself.

Heh... on BYOND I'm used to coding things myself. At work I'm used to inheriting code on which two or three people before me have left their unique imprints. I definitely prefer the former, though...

Not sure what that has to do with this topic, but ok: You're older than 35?

I think he meant that he was one of the first players on byond, though I might be wrong.

I came to byond 13 months after dantom made their keys

If he's 21 I'm a plaid giraffe. This isn't really meant as a flame (i.e., I'm not trying to provoke him or insult him here), but I'm not letting that 21 figure stand unchallenged. I've heard it before, and I believe it as much as I believe Dekuh was 26.

I was going to state my reasons for why I don't believe the figure, but they come off as a little too flamey. If I start listing faults it's just going to turn into a shouting match. Suffice it to say that with good reason, and based on experience and a lot of observation, I believe Dareb is about 13-15, maybe as old as 16 with a good tailwind.

One would think it would be in his best interest to convince people that he is much younger.

Nice line up of jobs, but what exactly will YOU being doing on the game?

Id finalize the code, host and administrate the game.

Id also budget the games donations and forward them accordingly along with a copy of all my receipts for that games donations.

and in the agreement there would be legal rights for my team to examine my receipts in regards to that game only.

Also id create quests and shedule events.

Your forgetting that i put alot into games and consider them a business, yes the game would be completely free, and there would be no garauntees that they get paid. like i said. tips only :D

The main reason i want to do this is because it hasnt been done on byond yet.

people tend to mistake insensibility with just being a prick. im a prick. ive never denied that. and its only my attitude in regards to people that dont agree with me that leads me to sound insensible or immature.

I have no need or want to lie about my age. Im not a liar, as far as ive known ive never lied to people on byond.

If i argue its to get a point across or to have someone prove me wrong. If im wrong that just means my sources of information wasnt very accurate. But you guys try to prove me wrong with your opinions and never facts.

It's too laborious a task to search through the forums and find every one of the cases where someone responded to one of your claims about copyright law, for instance, with a reference or a quote from such a reference describing how such law is actually applied. Yet I have seen such posts on several occasions, so you simply can't claim no one ever had anything to back up their arguments against you. I don't think I've ever seen you, however, provide any evidence of your own statements. This goes right back to what I've often said (and others with me), that you've been simply ignoring people's rebuttals and repeating your statements as if they were never challenged.

I might add that mistaken information isn't the only way to be wrong. A person can reach a wrong conclusion by ignoring or misinterpreting the data at hand, or by errors in logic. I've seen you do all three.

While I applaud your sense of commitment, in order to consider something a business you have to have a business model. That is, there has to be a semi-realistic expectation of revenue. Tips aren't a reliable source of that unless tipping is ingrained in the culture, like in restaurants. So if you want to take the project seriously, that's great; but if you want to consider it a business, you should figure out a way it could function as one.
