Alright. Just to clear some things up. I dont want any actual swearing in this topic. But rather. Descriptions of types of words and why they would be inappropriate.
Alot of people use the words gimp, jew, cracker, fa-guh, gay.
Although used alone these words are acceptable, they become swears when targetted at someone or something.. still. This is inappropriate language.
Simply put. Any words having any ties to Cultural, Religious, or Sexual Preference directed in an insulting manner are inappropriate.

Words are considered inappropriate in general when people tend to find them offensive. If you think someone could find the words you're using offensive, don't use them. If people are hassling you about using them, don't use them. That's about it.

you seem to be the only one saying more than they should when responding.
are you trying to create flame wars with me? |

I think he wants you to "step over the line" so he can get you banned. Eh. Not particularly. I'm not really trying to bait the guy. In this case I just thought Maz's comment was funny and dead on target. As far as the line goes, I think the chalk's been pretty well smudged up for a while now. Lummox JR |
I am personally offended by this thread. It is a waste of BYOND's space and only recites what everyone already knows. I deem every word you wrote as inappropriate language.

you would. But im really only asking individuals, not followers of their opinions, and not what they say around people to belong.

While I'm inclined to agree that this post isn't a flame-bait, I also do not see a tremendous amount of point to it, unless you're trying to set yourself up as some kind of sensitivity expert.
I also question the criteria you use to determine whether someone is an individual or a follower... people who agree with you, I'm sure you consider free-thinking individuals. People who don't, I'm sure you label as conformist sheep. Isn't that kind of backwards? |
you only see things the way you see things. i see things the way i see things, and i dont see it that way.
When people dont agree with me i look at some of the reasons why they wouldnt agree with me (if theyve given no reasons) and based on their responses, usually the style of which they write it. i can base a person as conformist, a leader, or an individual. its like people telling what type of person you are through hand writing. |

Only that's not an exact science, and when it's accurate at all it's because it's handled by experts trained extensively in handwriting analysis. Usually it's much easier, though, to tell what mood a person is in rather than their overall personality. You're not really as perceptive as you think you are, though. The idea that you're capable of judging people's personalities isn't borne out by your behavior in all your previous posts. It's often futile to say "I bet you think such and such", but I'm guessing you see yourself--within your own categories--as a leader more than the other two. That seems to be the attitude with which you approach most of your posts, and the game idea thread in particular. If you do in fact see yourself as a leader, then I think it nicely proves my point about your perceptiveness: Nobody's following. Lummox JR |
Well... lets see. I can understand this concept behind Dareb's approach, but I also understand how the normal person thinks, to an extent of course. Now if you think with one track, you either say, that language is bad, or it's alright if used with people who agree with you.
But you have to think of the possibilites their's roughly 4 billion people in this world. (I believe) and each one thinks differently, but share opinions and beliefs. So you can't really say Dareb is wasting space with this topic, because I can't tell if he's doing this to be a pain in the *** or what not. I also can't say he's making good use either, or neither. You can't tell what someone does by the way they write. You have to go beyond and speak with that person. I've known Dareb 2 years now. I can tell you from my point of view, he's thinks in a higher perspective and usually looks at stuff from the top and sides, but never below. This is my opinion, but myself, I have a habit of just "scanning" over the entire thing and missing the most important detail. But all in all, if you think on it long and hard, perhaps something can be made of this thread... or just my post. *shrugs* Oh well, best spill the ideas than just letting em boil over.
