The RPE/RPU community is where I truly got my start roleplaying. In the past, it seemed like there was a much greater quantity of diverse roleplays to choose from, and most members of the community were open-minded to various genres, be they roleplays inspired by anime/manga, sci-fi, action, horror, and the like. One thing that I have noticed coming back to RPU is that the RPs don't seem as diverse, and the community doesn't seem as open. At best, it's rather disconcerting.
My suggestion is that a forum be dedicated to advertisement. Allow hosts to post advertisements detailing their roleplays and inviting others to join. I have spent a lot of time at NationStates, roleplaying with the "Portal to the Multiverse" group, and I have learned that advertisements are very effective. With an advertisement forum, you allow players to learn about what a roleplay might offer them.
