The first job I had to fill out those W-2 or W-4 or whatever the hell forms for was as a waitress at HoJo's. It was all right, the good part was I got dinner free, and the cooks gave me huge portions.

But I did a lot of work before that, volunteer or under the table. I worked some summers at an overnight summer camp for free room and board. I did housekeeping, some secretarial work for my church, pet sitting and child care. No, not babysitting. I swear. Not that I've never babysat. But I was young.
