Wow, well my dad finnaly showed me my car today. It's a 1983 Pontiac Fire Bird, mint coniditon.
I mean, this thing 'the old owner' had it in storage for years. It still sparkles a bright red, aww its so cute! =)
It has a 454 'engine' in it. 2, 4 barrel carbs.
When we were goona buy it, the guy let us take it on the highway 'just me, my mom & dad' My dad drove, and we were behind some blazer. My dads like Damn.. this guys slow.. So my dad slowed right down and let it get ahead, he punched it started going sideways this blazer pulled off to let us by 'scared him i think!' lol, anyways he punched it on a straight stretch 'realy long one' and it starts going sideways when the speed-omiter is barried. Which is goes to 200Kph '120 Mph'. Then he popped it into 5th and it starts smoking the tires. My moms like Damn your goona kill our kid if you let him drive this. A 454 in a tiny Pontiac fire bird. It's unreal!!
I never been so excited in my life, anyways we bought it.
The guy that had it, was clocked speeding the first month he had it down the highway 'ran over a camera detector thing that detects his speed and gives him a ticket if he going to fast'
He showed me and my dad so we realize how much power it has. He had it over 170 Mph, 173 to be exact. He could have went faster he wanted. But, if he was to crash at 173 that would be the end of him.
Anyways we got it home. It's up to me to learn how to drive it. I drop it in 1st and let off the clutch, ran my dad over. (he was behind me haha)
But once we got it going i took it around the block, get into a slide on every-corner just by taping it. It's hard to get it even to get to 30Mph without it going sideways while doing so. Im soooo excited for tommorow, when i get to drive it around town 'with my dad of course' =)

Reading through this, I don't really understand how this car is good.
Here's a question for you: would you rather have that car, or one that works just fine but tops off at like 80 mph? If the answer is that car, please tell me how is a car that's hard to drive at manageable speeds better than a car that's incapable of reaching an unmanageable one? I mean, look at the guy who had it... less than a month, and he gets a ticket for speeding. You can't tell me that when you take it out driving on your own (or maybe even with your dad, who knows), you won't try the same thing. Is there ever a reason to be going 170 mph? Why do they even make cars that go that fast? No one needs that kind of speed. If your life ever depends on your traversal of 170 miles in one hour, you may as well just give up the ghost. |

I hear in Germany, they don't have speed limits in certian places.
Correct me, digi-rat, if I'm wrong.... |

You see, Lexy, is men (mostly teenagers) take a lot of pride in their car. The faster it can go, the better. The more expensive, the better. The cooler it looks, the better. Safety isn't an issue.

Yes, but if the highest speed limit you'll encounter is, let's say, 90 mph (that's being generous)... and you have [X] amount of money you could spend on a car... if you have two cars, one of which costs [X] money and goes up to 1,000,000 mph and the other one costs [X/2] money and only goes up to 90 mph, and you buy the first car, you have thrown [X/2] money down the drain for something you will never, ever, ever use. If you buy the second car, then you have [X/2] money to buy things that you will use, including necessary things, useful things, fun things, and interesting things.
Of course, someone's going to turn around and say that it's just biology and evolution... and I suppose they're right. After all, if some members of this species feel compelled to expend resources in pursuit of interesting ways to kill themselves, that's a perfect example of natural selection at work. Garthor, if you need help securing a car loan, I would be happy to co-sign it. |

Besides, how many people can say they're car goes 1,000,000 mph? Get me the government on line one, I'm selling a breakthrough of speed! I used to own a firebird, it was a great car. |

People like fast speed for excitment and adventure. Some people enter it in street racing. Most people that street race, soop up their car (not sure how to spell soop. If you know, tell me. It means upgrade for those people that don't know.) Anyway, like 2 weeks ago, I saw a phat-ass Mustang. That [EDITED] (sorry for the language fourm mods) had 600 or 700 horse-power (don't remember.) Anyway, when I get my graduation car, if I get a grad car, (hopefully an Eclipse GSX) in 2 more years, I'll soop it up and street race it for money.
DiZzyBonne [Note from Forum Mod (Lesbian Assassin): Dizzy, you know that kind of language doesn't fly... saying you're sorry for it in the same line doesn't excuse it, just proves that you do know it's not allowed. Next time, save yourself the time and effort it took to apologize by simply not doing it at all.] |

You are correct. In some places in Germany, (if not, I know somewhere in Europe) there are no speed limits.

I was scanning the net this evening for some pictures of Fire Birds. I came accross this
http://members.cox.net/discoman/crossfire/82intr.jpg This picture, is identical the in interior of myn. Hood-scoop as well. Which are hard to come by in these cars. In reply to Lexy's post, where i come from there isnt realy anything to do besides have nice cars & go on the net. Our arcade has holes in the floor. Everyone wants to have the best car, at night there is races, and the cops dont do crap about them. Don't ask me why, but the faster it is, faster you get to your destination. Also, fast you get tickets, but live and learn. Alatar |

Thats assuming that were all thinking logically here. What Garthor said should have summed it up for you perfectly. Like he said, the faster the better, the nicer the better, the more it cost the better. Your not even trying to think like a teenage boy.

Yeah, I can do it because I'm a teenager. Fortunately I'm a third child and suppress these illogical desires.
