Here is the ordering info from wallet records. The original price was 10 dimes now it is 250. Oh yeah and when I got it, it wouldn't work.

You have to ask yourself, where would someone have even got the DWO code to begin with?

Even if giving the DWO source code to someone was the only way to prevent a large scale nuclear war I wouldn't do it. The fact that people assume that the source code to every game on BYOND has been leaked--accidentally or otherwise--is somewhat scary. |
The only way someone is getting the source from my new, unreleased game is if they pry it from my dead, cold fingers

can't steal my code unless they can read my mind....most of my space sim code is still turning around in my head...

I have no want to use the games exact coding but more for an example... When I first came to BYOND, I would have loved to have the source code to some of the games that I played to just use as an example to help me learn.. Then I discovered the demos and tutorials. They are MUCH more helpful than any game's source code could be. |
But you don't find demos for everything. And these games had some things I needed and wanted to learn.

That's just say I'm a loser could you make this for me..... What I mean is I used to use newbie central every day. Now I only use it once so every often and I do not wish to ruin my Rep anymore than it has been.

I wanted to have randomized combat which took you to a seperate screen and was turn based. Not to mention a fully functional graphical menu systems and things like boats, wyvern wings etc. I used these demos and tutorials as a guide. They taught me how to code in general, not just specifically for the task they were demonstrating. I then used my knowledge of DM to create the things I wanted for myself. Trying to create a game before you understand how to code is like trying to bake a cake out of ingredients you've never seen before. It just doesn't work. The resources are there. Way more than when I started. Heck, I back when I started there was tons of guidance available compared to back when a lot of now successful game designers started. The problem is that you believe that you can't learn how to code, or that the only way to do so is to see exactly what you wish to accomplish demonstrated first. In believing this you make it true. You know what the best resource out there is that people seem to ignore? The forums. If you have a question, search the forums. Rarely have I had a question that I couldn't find had been answered on the forums in the past. There are years worth of answers waiting to be put to use. |
It's called being subject to a scam.
