The cityscapes were a marvel. Cities of technology
owned by corporations all across the world
are the only refuge to a polluted and dying earth.

Yet, inside has its dangers aswell. Street gangs war
against each-other in violent confrontations
amongst the debris of forgotten buildings for turf.

Many have ventured in the back alleys never to
come back alive.

But whatever dangers the forgotten parts of the city
may yield. They are nothing compared to the wasteland.

The wasteland was a polluted dump, earth
destroyed and forsaken by the corporations.
Laws now only have effect inside the cities.
Very few escape from the clutches of the law
but those who do usually dont live long.

The world falls apart even as our story goes.
Corporations and citizens both are too
wrapped up in their materialism to foresee
the hell that is about to be unleashed.
Ahh, flashbacks of Mad Max and the Thunderdome are hitting me after reading this!

In response to Kusanagi
well, I am being a little vague.

But Mad Max and the Thunderdome.. well that city wasnt a city so much as it was a central point of trade. It wasnt owned by any 'corporation' and the world was post-nuclear.. not just polluted.

Also the cities werent entirely technological.

And my story takes place in a parallel universe in a world of what-ifs.
