Pow-Pow-Power wheels :)
Okay, more unrealistically, I want a hovercraft, but since they're a few million each, I don't see it happening any time soon. Can't wait to be blazing across the highway, desert or ocean at 200mph.

Even more unrealistically, I say screw the cars, I want my R-31a Neon. That's the second-to-latest model of military fighter craft available in the year 2800-and-something. My little Neon happens to have blue-reflective plating, silk seat coverings, black interior, refraction shields to avoid collisions with space trash, and novelty cup holders. Of course, it also has a cloaking device for privacy. The sub-ion drives not only run smoothly, but they're quiet too. It only has two rooms, cockpit and living quarters, like most 2-4 person crafts in those days, but hey, it's bigger than your average car.

Naturally, I'd have taken the R-31b Neon, but they didn't come in reflective blue.
I agree, the S2000 is a nice car, i'd like to ride one and try it out!

Hey... Some imports are nice, not all are bad! Honda has probobly one of the best engines out there from japan, they last for long periods of time and require very little fixing, my aunt has a civic and it hasn't required any fixing with in the last 5 years or so.. my uncle has a White 90'Toyota Celica, top of the line model and it kicks butt, he hasn't had it repaired once yet!

Linkin Park rules, i'll have to download that episode and watch it. Vipers rule! New ones i heard go 220+ mph. If i had one of those i'd be outrunning the cops, i'd be in big trouble! Cops going 160 on the highway your going 210 on cruise control cops are trying there hardest, your just crusing, that would be funny. You ever see that commecial for the new need for speed game? the kid says "excuse me cop" and he moons him, then slams on the gas in his lamborghini, the cops chase after him, thats funny.

True. They have to tune them down. Two reasons: 1. emmissions. If you didn't know, more performance usually equals worsened fuel efficency, and bad air coming out. 2. Safety. The car is either too fast, or made differently than it should be for our type of driving. IE: The Skyline GTR (way to fast, and not built at all for everyday, street driving).

The one thing I like about imports over most american cars, is that the imports have much better syling. They just have an overwhelming appearance. The US is starting to learn this and [stuff], but they're turning out cars that are simlar looking, but lacking in power. Ex: a Ford Focus. The one Sport Compact that was nicely made in the US would have to be the Dodge Neon :)

Ewwww...Intrepids are horrid looking. I like the newer ones for their specs though. They come with one of those slapstick transmissions (manual tranny without a clutch). They're also known to be pretty quick for a mid-sized sedan. They're still ugly, and I wouldn't drive one :)

I think just the opposite. At least, for the latest models.
All my BYONDimes to someone who can explain to me why the average person needs a car that goes 200 MPH, or for that matter, why such cars are mass-made and sold.

I just don't understand this whole "speed" thing. Most people, even people who otherwise total anal about matters of law, drive over the speed limit everywhere they go and act like it's not even a matter of choice. People who wouldn't jaywalk will speed. The same people who post on the marijuana thread about how drug dealers are breaking the law and need to pay for their crimes probably speed, or will as soon as they're licensed to operate a motor vehicle. Guess what? That's breaking the law, too... and it's putting other people in danger.

My girlfriend and my roommate, both of whom have law enforcement background and both of whom become infuriated whenever a convicted criminal gets let off with less than the maximum penalty, become even more infuriated when they get a speeding ticket. There's just no connection in their minds between speed limits and the rule of law.

General use cars should not be capable of driving over the legal speed limit. It's just ridiculous to have a law against something and then allow people to sell vehicles with features designed expressly for breaking that law. Once things like OnStar become standard issue, your car should automatically call the local police every time you exceed the speed limit, and before anyone pipes up about "Big Brother", let me pre-emptively say BS... there's nothing wrong with enforcing a law that should have been enforced more strongly all along.

Heck, if speed limits were automatically enforced (either by preventing cars from going over the speed limit, or electronically noting it every time), this would eliminate a lot of bias in law enforcement. Everyone who's stopped for speeding complains, "Everyone else was speeding, why pull me over?" No more stopping all the red sports cars, or the cars with teenagers, or the cars with minorities, or whatever it is the local cops like to pick on.

My R-31a Neon goes a lot faster than that. It's only about 60,000,000,000,000 miles from Sol to Epsilon Eridani, the other colonized system in the year 2800-and-something, and I'd like to get there in reasonable time.

They're designed to break the speed limit, because the government knows that people will do it, and because they do it, they get tickets, and when they pay those tickets, the government gets money. That means the government benefits. That means cars get to go over the speed limit.

well, intrepids are an average car, there nothing special like the viper, there not tuned up and it's a car you see almost every day so don't expect good comments about them. Though they do drive smooth, and there quiet.

I've posted the videos up for download for you. :)

Viper versus Diablo

Viper versus Civic

For Lesbian Assassin - A good reason NOT to misuse the possession of a motorized vehicle

[EDIT] Sadly, my webhost will NOT let me upload the files. You'll have to contact me if you really want to see them. [/EDIT]

Let me know if anything is corrupt. They are (supposed to be) standard MPEG format. I also have movies with the likes of a Viper getting trashed by a souped-up Neon, a Viper venom doing the quarter mile in 10 seconds (includes a 2.1 second 0-60), and a couple more. Contact me for more info...

My name is Skysaw and I'm a speeder.

Not the worst, by any stretch of the imagination. I usually find myself going over the limit, but most of the time that doesn't prevent 95% of traffic from passing me anyway. I may be a criminal, but at least I won't be the first one to crash.

Actually, the fundamental problem behind speeding is that speed limits are set in a massively arbitrary manner, and generally do not much resemble the actual ideal speed for a given stretch of road. Most studies on the subject show that traffic tends to be pretty well self-adjusting in this regard; that is, most drivers will as a whole find a safe, reasonable speed given the circumstances they're driving in, whether it's above or below the speed limit.

That's just general speeding, though. Kids doing 90 in a residential zone should be shot into the heart of the sun.

I think there will be no real answer to the speeding problem until we as a society can finally admit that private ownership of cars causes more problems than it solves.

Yup! If there's one thing that SimCity has taught me, it's that railroads can cheaply and easily replace road networks entirely to reduce pollution, congestion, and traffic accidents.

It's all because you never know when a raging tyranosaurus rex will pop out of nowhere and chase you, so you must always be prepared to outrun it! As the boyscouts say, "Always be prepared!". They are mass made because the car companies hate the T-rex teleportation companies, so they swear they will never let one of those comapanies' T-rexs(spelling!) catch one of their drivers.

But in reality I think it has something to do with people wanting to show off how fast their car runs, and those people also think that one day they might just get into a street race, so they pay an extra couple hundred to buy the fast car. Then the car companies make them in mass quantities because they know that people think this way, well some people.

Being an "average car" doesn't make it any less favorable. I have no need for a car that's tuned up, and I think they're excellent eye-magnets. I don't care if everyone else has one. I want one too!
