Looks awesome so far. If you haven't seen it yet, check out Anguna. It's a GBA homebrew game from a few years back (I actually mean closer to 10), and you can play it in a GBA/DS emulator.

Bonus points if your game is procedurally generated.

Thank you! It isn't procedurally generated yet. I am planning to have caves, dungeons, forests, deserts via hole, portal, stairs or area transition be the generated part of the world. The iconic parts of the surface world,shops and towns are going to be hand made though.

Still having a bit of trouble ironing out the details from the example fat albert gave me on procedurally containing my world grid, but I'm close.

  • Revives and HP drops are less common.
  • Molotovs no longer get frozen on their throwing animation in rare circumstances.
  • Increased the darkness level and added some aesthetic lighting effects.
  • Bosses now have unique lighting effects.
  • Enemies could be killed twice in certain circumstances.
  • Players have a shorter safe period after taking damage.
  • Fire has finally been nerfed.
  • Players can now bump other players.


Mostly aesthetic tweaks and more fixes, but a long awaited nerf for fire is included with this batch of changes. Fire will no longer spread on its own or be dropped by mobs that are on fire - this led to rampant fields of fire that would rather quickly turn every basic enemy into ash. While i might bring fire spreading back in the future, albeit to a lesser extent, for now this will have to do. Keep in mind that mobs that are on fire can now also ignite mobs that they bump into.

I've also started laying framework for the next big addition that I don't want to spoil quite yet. Hopefully I'll be able to share some early gifs in the next week or two. (:

Everyone else's lighting effects are beautiful. I wish I could figure that one out. All done with image() objects Kumorii?
