r u happy?
This is really growing on me. I've broken apart a lot of the source today to purge out the last of the shaky framework and utilize new features in DM. The day/night and rain mechanics have been completely overhauled. Speaking of which, my rain library was also updated. The entire approach has been changed but for a good cause! The library no longer requires a chunk of time at world startup to preload the rain to the map and can now draw rain dynamically instead of looping the rain animation over the same automatically chosen tiles. (: Next is to get enemy ai tweaked for the new sight range and see how that goes! |

Have a gif. Dynamic shadows for trees, but no mobs to prevent unwanted CPU usage. Why don't the tree shadows have layers higher then the mobs? |

If tree shadows had a higher layer than mobs, you would get some strange-looking problems. The way the mob enters and exits the shadow would make the mob look flat and screw with our perception of height. |
Expect something nice today...
or not, I don't know if you'll like it... expect something today. |

Pretty much exactly why. I didn't like how awkward the shadows looked when casted over mobs so I just made them flat.
Oh, and mobs don't have dynamic shadows because the shadow library I use looks kind of atrocious on most set pieces. |
