Whats more good than god, more evil than the devil. The poor don't have it, the rich don't need it. If you don't eat it you'll die.

Start guessing!

water
Nothing.

kudos to silk for that :D
I think that the last line is incorrect. "If you don't eat (nothing)" means "if you eat something". So, to make it correct, it should be "If you eat it, you will die." which would make more sense.

Yes, Nothing. (I've heard this riddle before.)
The poor don't have it,= DO HAVE IT

eating water? mm.
Nothing?
Either nothing or anything, depending on which bit of the riddle you look at... :o

Nothing is more good than god or more evil than the devil. But "nothing" doesn't fit with the rest of the riddle. The poor don't have anything and the rich don't need anything. If you don't eat anything you'll die.

So I think you made a little mistake there. :-)
Who was the first one to reply to this?

Depends if you use double-negatives or not :oP

The poor don't got nothing, the rich don't need nothing, and if you don't eat nothing you'll die!

Technically, you're supposed to... so I stand by my comment. :-)
