Is Zeta one of the dragonball "legends" or whatever they are called? (is it a series name, or a saga or something)

I always thought it was something RaeKwon and/or Dracon come up with.
I thought that what the "Z" standed for in "Dragonball<big>Z</big>"

That is correct ;)

The true name for the 'Z' in Dragonball Z is Zeta, hehe.

So there you have it; Dragonball Zeta.

Nah thats not true. Its a common mistake though. Ive also heard rumor that it stood for Zen, but in reality it is simply Z.

Yes Dog Man is right the Z in Dragon Ball Z does not stand for anything.
z in roman is zeta..

It has been confirmed as Dragonball Zen. Thanks for your help though guys!
In response to Polatrite
no its z my japaneese teacher said it was just z...
In response to Dog Man
No, actually, the Z in DBZ really IS "Zeta"...

It's even pronounced like that in the Japanese theme song...

The whole "Zen" theory is just something cooked up by the fans...so you're right there... But it truly IS "Zeta"...

Actually, it's more like "Zetta"...

Are you sure its not just something that sounds like Zetta, sort of like how it goes Dragonball z-ya at the end of the English version?
Im going to go check it now.

LoL, now I see why people have curfews...too many wierdos like you guys discussing the origin of "Zeta" lol...The greatest minds of the BYOND Language arguing bout "Zeta" lol, outstanding!
In response to Goku72
If these are the greatest minds, we're in trouble. (They're not, I hope. No offense guys.)
In response to Foomer
No offense taken... I definitely wouldn't even call myself one of the "greatest minds of BYOND"...lol
In response to SuperSaiyanGokuX
Well I would call myself one of the greatest minds of BYOND, but only because no one else will... :P
Actually, its a complement he didnt just yell 'Stupid newbie DBZers get the F*** off BYOND we dont care about your dumbass DBZ S***!'

I always thought Zeta was that robot guy from Batman Beyond.. you know the one that killed people and took their personality temporarily. *I Think he even has his own show* I love it when cartoons compete with Drew Carey for number of shows, just 4 more to top Bill Cosby!

--Ken--

Useless Fact: The Z in "Z-Sword" isnt the same abbreviation as the Title Dragonball Z, the Z in the sword stands for Zed, and there is a tale behind that but I forgot it.

Even though, most of the time, it's true.
In response to NeoHaxor
Yeah, Zeta made an appearance in Batman of the Future (Im guessing in America its Batman Beyond), he does have his own show now.
Not the greatest show in the world though.

As I'm sure someone has already pointed out in this thread... this whole argument is pointless. Z == Zeta. They are the same thing. Zeta means Z. Z means Zeta. They're just different ways of saying the same letter. In the Britain, Z is pronounced as Zed and W is pronounced something like "wuh".

You might as well argue about whether or not it's Beta testing or stage B of testing.
In response to Lesbian Assassin
Since its a noun, wouldnt the Z simply mean Z, nothing more nothing less? Also, the argument is about what the creator intended the Z to stand for.

Which is why the argument is pointless! I'm not saying that Z stands for Zeta. I'm saying that Z IS ZETA and ZETA IS Z. They are the same letter!

I'm not talking about Dragonball Z. I'm talking everywhere, period, exclamation point. It's like debating whether the creator intended you to pronounce tomato or to-mae-to or to-mah-to.

When you see the letter Z by itself, you can read it as "Zee", "Zed", "Zeta", and probably several other things... all equally correct, depending on where you're from.
