Im using a 3-4 Year old SCSI Windows NT computer and every so often when Im using it the screen will flicker and then the screen will turn blue and in white letters it says "Dumping physical memory" not knowing if this is harmful or not I quickly turn off and on the cpu then continue as normal. This seems to happen at random, Somtimes 5 times a day somtimes once a month at any rate its quite annoying.
If anyone could tell me how to Stop this and or what it is it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, this happened to my friend.I think you might be in for some trouble. He had a guy look at it four times.in the end he got a new computer.

The top few search results on Google for "Dumping physical memory" seem to say that it's a RAM problem and suggest replacing it. Supposedly there were also some fixes for this sort of thing a while back so you might want to make sure Windows is up to date before you bother. (The update I read about was service pack 2 for Windows 2000 though.)
That said, I have no firsthand experience with the matter. |

I am not sure what causes it or how to fix it, but it sure was funny when the guy sitting next to me crashed his NT machine.... And for turning the computer off and on again quickly: You idiot! You could seriuosly damage the insides of the computer doing that. Turn it off and wait a bit (10-20 seconds)to let the HDD spin down then turn it back on. |
