I'd like to ask all the people in BYOND, are there any coders here making games for themselves, and not just for the 'hub'?

Me.I have made some pretty funny games and lame games.I made a card game for a road trip and a race car game for a boing visit in Tunica.

My only released game was made because I wanted to make it... I don't charge for it, nor do I plan to... I'm not even going to put in a "Donate" verb...
Of course, since it's a DBZ fangame, making money off of it would be crossing a line I don't want to cross...lol However, I plan on making more games here in the future (I've even got quite a few unfinished projects in my bin right now, and too many ideas floating around in my head on top of that) and I don't plan on charging for any of them... I'm most definitely not here to make money... | |
I make computer games because that is what I have done in my spare time as long as I can remember. Other people play sports, or party, or do something else to occupy their time. I am not here to make games for other's entertainment only; I am here to make good games. If people happen to find them fun, great. With or without BYOND I would sit in my room and make computer games all weekend. The difference is, with BYOND, other people can enjoy my games. Making money from the games is trivial; I don't plan on ever withdrawing my dimes.

I didn't find BYOND by searching for business opportunities -- I found it by searching for video game development packages. Sure, in the long run, it'd be great to make some money off it, but that's not what got me interested or what keeps me interested. | |
Depends on what you mean by the 'hub'. If you mean am I making a game just to get my name onto the hub, then Im definantly not out to do that.
If you mean to get it on the hub to help BYOND grow and give the players something to play, then yeah (Although its not the sole reason). -DogMan | |
