Wow! Multiplying two odds to get the odd of them both happening! What a genious that statistics professor is!

Of course, these people have been spending $20 in lottery tickets every day for the past 20 years or so. So, suprisingly enough, they've lost a few hundred thousand dollars over the years (400,000 or so, I believe). Their financial advisor said this was okay, since it was an enjoyable hobby of theirs.

Yeah... one ticket every once in a blue moon, just for fun, isn't a bad thing. But, spending lots of money on lottery tickets with the dumb hope of winning is like... uh, spending lots of money on lottery tickets with the dumb hope of winning.

Did they really need to tell us that? It's like saying 'He was given a giant check for $17,126,000, which he cashed at a bank he went to using a car.'

Hey, over all those years, they only lost $450,000 or so, and they enjoyed it.
Holy $@%&! Some people just have all the luck don't they.

Well, honestly, you'd be surprised as to how few people actually know how probabilities are calculated.

I believe those probabilities would only be accurate under the assumption that he bought one and only one of each ticket (which I'm guessing is not a valid assumption).

Its truly amazing how much money people will throw in the toilet. Ive got people that will come into one of my jobs, buy 20 scratch tickets, play back their winnings until they are gone, buy 20 more tickets, repeat a few times. Then, they will get a $20 winner and tell everyone who will listen how they always win on <insert scratch ticket name here>. Of course, it cost them 60 bucks and a half hour of their time to win 20... I just love having to wait on the same person 15-20 times in a half hour.

Of course, there are the even worse people who come in, buy a six pack of beer, a pack of smokes and $10 worth of lotto tickets, and than yell at their kids because they 'don't have enough money' to buy the pack of gum the kid wanted.

We do have at least one honest player. He won $250,000 on a scratch ticket, which he claims will put him at just about break even on lottery games over the last 15 years or so.

I said it once and I'll say it again, there really do need to be licenses to have children. =P

As my mom says,"If I am going to win I am going to win with one ticket and not waste my money on a hundred.".Or something like that.

You have no clue how much I agree with you on that.

I dont know if i agree or not, but we wont get into that.
