Somebody is spreading around a rumor. They are saying that when you load up an icon on either Icon Trading/Exchange that the icon saves to the persons computer. The person who started the rumor, I know was banned and he might just be jelous, but I don't think it is posibble to code that in BYOND.

Here's something that is TRUE. When you load a file like an icon onto a game, the icon is treated like a resource file and EVERYBODY playing the game has it downloaded to there PC. Not that they can easily find it, mind. It takes years of practise to work out how to navigate the Windows folder =-P

Hehe... oops. I think I started this "rumor" a long time ago, when I told it to a group of people in an icon trading game for laughs (of course, I knew it was entirely true). Now people are hosting games specifically to steal icons from people *coughSage_Turakcough*.

original .rsc files I believe are safe but any files that your borwse_rsc are susceptable to theft. Actually I use this fact in order to troubleshoot browser picture bugs. I'm not quite sure about how direct icon sending works however...

Whenever a player picks an icon file form their computer, it can send that file to the host, or owner, or anyone. Not like people couldn't just use F2, or printscreen. Telling people about those two keys has gotten me banned from many icon testers. I don't know what I'll do without those useless programs :(
