This is kinda turning into a debate now. And teetering on the edge of an all-out flame war, I would have thought... (I encourage everyone present to prove me wrong, however :-) ) Why not do tests in those aspects stated? That way you can actually and truthfully say who is the best or not. I don't think it's possible to say who is the "best" programmer. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, and it's pretty much impossible to cover all possible strengths and weaknesses. Anyway, I wouldn't participate - too much potential for flaming and people getting grudges against each other. |

hmmmmm we all know that the owner of BYONDscape won't be biased. If I've ever claimed to be unbiased, I was either joking or outright lying. :) Hmmmm is there a demo for the gesture library before I decide whether to renew my subscription... There's a demo included, but not a separately-downloadable one. If you don't have an immediate need for the gesture library, you may as well wait until something else pops up on BYONDscape that really interests you, and then you can subscribe and catch up on everything. |

Not you then. If you were called Gartor, then it would be you.

Deadron.
A large part of good programming is having clear and understandable code. |

Xooxer, Gughunter, Leftley and Flick are also noticably very skilled, even if they don't flaunt it.

I really don't think I deserve to be on that list but ok I guess. The 2 things a programmer needs most to be successful are experience and good ideas. Experience will teach you how to be more efficient and work faster, good ideas will, well...get you a better game in the end. I personally think the best coders are Ebonshadow, Leftly, and Lummox (though Shadowdarke is a great coder too. Tanks is awesome =P)

You are an idiot if you think Raekwon is a bad programmer. Raekwon is probably the best I've ever seen using a HUD, and fixed a major problem we had with FFO back in the day it was still up. If you ever have HUD problems, Rae is definitely the person to ask.

Yes, because managing the client.screen list and the screen_loc var is so incredibly hard!

Yeah. I have the many ideas, most of them are good or even satisfatory (maybe little "filler" things). But, I don't have the knowledge to make it.

You cant really say who is the best.I mean those programmers who work on X-box games are better than almost everyone here.Even if you mean in DM,there cant really be a "best".

Actually, no, the people who programmed X-Box games are probably not as good as Dan or Tom, who wrote an entire new level of programming.

To tell you the truth, the programmers from Microsoft who work on X-Box suck...I consider X-Box nothing more then a combination of Gamecube,PS2, and the PC...so, if you REALLY want a GOOD gaming platform, buy a PC or any one of those listed above :-P

X-box is also capable of Graphics 3 times better than that of a PS2, and GameCube. X-box owns. RaeKwon |

Garthor is right, RaeKwon...
The best game system is the one with the best games. And X-Box doesn't exactly stand out in that category. Of course, I'll leave it for someone else to decide which system is best. splattergnome |
