Hey man, welcome back. I'm also sorry about before when I was a very stubborn individual. =/
I got rid of KaZaA and am now with WinMX. It's okay, but it's hard to find songs to download sometimes. Thanks for the advice anyways.

Yay! It's all fixed. Nothing is wrong with my computer - it was only a virus hoax. It acted as if it was virus. Although I find irony in this.
Sometimes I download programs entitled "virus" from KaZaA just to see if my virus scanner catches it. (You can call it Russian Roulette with viruses.) Of course, I don't open the programs. But every time I download one of these "bullets" as I call them, they catch them. Now the irony that I mentioned earlier is that it didn't catch this thing, when it was a real thing - a red alert. Wow. Bye bye KaZaA... I must also be aware when using WinMX... Also, some advice: (don't open any MP3's with smiley face icons..... =P) |

I haven't kept up on Imesh, but I believe that one was initially one of the worst in the spyware field. Ah, yes. Gator is the spyware. It's in several of those programs, actually. For a while there I thought BYOND had resorted to pop-up ads to keep itself afloat. o_0 I think too many of us know where Dantom live to allow that. Lummox JR |

PC-cillin... That program is not one I would recommend, nor would I recommend McAfee or Norton. Simple reasons are because PC-cillin which I attained, had multiple virus' contained within it, one was the Love virus.
Norton; I don't like this product because it severely slows down my computer. McAfee; I don't like this one either because alot of people like to send you .src files within E-Mails saying 'to ur friends', 'i love you', 'you are great!', etc... I have to of them right now. What you may not know is that they all contain 'Worms'. McAfee does not pick up many of these types of worms which are contained in the .src files. The E-Mail is also in a size of 46Kb. If you recieved an E-Mail which had an attachment called; 'love.src', 'friends.src', 'background.src' or anything with that file extension that is within the range of 46Kb in size then it contains those worms. One of the names I know which is contained in a few of those are J-Worm. So be aware of this. The Anti-virus program I use is AVG. I have the free version and it works wonders. It picks up on those Worms contained in the .src files too. You can get the AVG Anti-Virus here; http://www.grisoft.com/ Hope that is good information for you. Not to mention, That virus you though that was deleting your windows file is only a 'Joke' program. I ran it once and it brought a sweat upon my face, reason is, I thought it was doing what it was saying it was doing, yet it wasn't. So I tried the CAD* method, and closing method. None worked so I waited until it finished. Then it said at the end; 'It's a good job this is only a joke ;)' If you would have seen my face you would have known the relief I gained when I saw that message :D Anyway, just thought I would tell ya :D --Lee <small>* - Ctrl + Alt + Delete</small> |

[edit] Hey kiddies! Don't trust KaZaA! =P And this is true if you do little to protect yourself in the first place. Something about 'let the buyer beware' is the moral here. I've been using KaZaa Lite for about 8 months now. The latest version includes a modest virus program built in (with auto updates). Adaware detects no spyware, other than the false spyware dll file meant to trick KaZaa into thinking it is working properly. And I *always* make it a habit of scanning the files with AVG - and it has successfully caught the 3 viruses that I received through the P2P program (the built in scanner caught one of them). Other than that, I have no trouble with KaZaa Lite. I am interested in WinMX though, and will give it a look. Something to watch out for: there was a recent article in CNN about an mp3 'virus' that takes advantage of a WinAMP hole. I don't remember the details off-hand (but you should be able to find out about it easily enough), but WinAMP did provide a fix in their latest version. It affected WinXP machines mostly, I think. |

WinAMP had buffer overflows handling Artist ID3v2 tags. You can find more information here. WinXP had its own problem having to do with Explorer automatically reading the file attributes of MP3 and WMA files. There is more information here. |
Well, I didn't know it was a .exe program. It said it was an MP3... damn KaZaA has been fooled by the ol' .mp3.exe trick, because it doesn't show the .exe part. I probably should be using KaZaA 2.0.1 instead of KaZaA 1.7.2.. they might have fixed that then. =/ Oh well.
