but technically wouldnt only the waste of DanToms bandwidth be the HTML code that tells it where to get the picture from?

Maz, be right because it pulls the image straight from wherever it is uploaded, not on Dantoms machine.

Even so, the HTML is stored essentially as text, and sent to viewers as such...
And the HTML it took to put that image up (including the ALT description, and the link) is probably nearly as large (if not larger) a file as the offending post... So in a way, you're doing something just as bad as the offender, in terms of wasting bandwidth...lol However, the hidden benefit may be that if left unsaid, the thread might garner more and more equally useless replies to the topic at hand...thereby becoming a big waste of space and bandwidth... So if the one post directing people to Chatters difuses any future replies (ironically, this one has earned itself more than the original post...lol) then it has done its job... One small extra waste of bandwidth now to prevent a larger waste later from the thread going unchecked... Either way, it's highly entertaining, and adds some value to the post as far as I'm concerned...lol | |
