Neat! Good job... I hope they check BYOND out.

Heh... I was one of the people who did the morning announcements in 7th or 8th grade. About the only thing I can remember about it is that my co-announcer once mistakenly read the lunch menu as offering "Fruit Desert" instead of "Fruit Dessert." To this day I still chuckle about it. I guess I'm easily amused.

Lol.. The kids try to be comedians on the news, but subtract the funny part =P

RaeKwon, Jot's right. Dantom have repeatedly stated that the current income model means that they lose money per user. Having more adult users might increase the number of dimes in circulation and withdrawn to make up for this under the current model, maybe, but advertising to a school won't help for diddly crap. (Think about the relative income of your peers compared to adults. Also think about how many cheap losers we've seen around here who are unwilling to spend 1 dime on something.) It may be good for the user base, but at the moment it's bad for Dantom's income.

They've said this often enough that it's appalling how badly you're brushing over it now. More users does not necessarily mean more dimes, and it doesn't necessarily mean enough more to help, and presently Dantom only make money off withdrawals, not subscriptions. When the model changes, they'll do some advertising themselves.

We're of course not saying you shouldn't tell people about BYOND, but if you think outright mass advertising is a good idea right now then you're not paying attention.

I respect you're opinion, but most kids that have computers in my school have money, and are rather intellegent (I've spoken with some of the "computer nerds" in my school, they seem to have some common sense about computers), I'm estimating no more than 50 will even bother coming to BYOND, as most of the kids probably just brushed it off, I know that the kids that asked more about it would come, and I did mention to them that BYOND might charge for the utilities of uploading games, ect.. They didn't seem to mind about that.

BYOND is being advertised daily, probably mass advertised daily, I know people that invite real life freinds to come on BYOND daily, and become rather addicted. You can't have a program up and not expect it to be not advertise =P

I honestly think Dantom should not worry about there financial trouble, like I said in my other posts, I would help them out if they needed it that bad, and i'm sure many other people would. I am only 15, but I got money, so not all teens around here are bums =P

If the user base was to grow, so would everything else. Just think, if some of those people come here and make some spectacular games, and make alot of money off them. Every withdrawl puts Dantom up just a little bit more (money wise), which never is bad =P. When I withdraw my Dimes, I feel happy that I just helped them out in some way, not much, but in some way.

As long as a program is up, and cannot expect people not to advertise it, it's just not possible. It's like saying my game is up and I don't want people to advertise it, people will anyways, it's just how things are o.O

Right now they are losing money per person. More people means more losses. If Dantom was deep in financial trouble, I highly doubt you could save them.

You think advertising at a school is bad? Take this for example, a site that gets over a thousand hits a day has a link to BYOND, that is alot worse than what I did, and I know many, many sites like that.

I only killed one hundred people, someone else killed 1,000 people. So because someone else killed more people than I did, that makes my killing one hundred people ok.

I think it's been made clear that BYOND loses money per person. And its been said that advertising is bad because it would increase the number of people and most likely increase losses. If Dantom isn't advertising there's probably a reason why.

So you're saying that if someone invites a freind to BYOND, there a little fool cause they advertised? Damn. Thats sad.

If BYOND is losing money and the user base can't grow, I think BYOND shouldn't be up then. A company is suppose to expand, not go down.

More people is more losses. How is it sad I don't advertise? It's sad that I don't want them to lose more money? Wouldn't it be sad then if you did advertise, because they would then lose more money?

So if a company's stock drops the slightest bit they should close?

I do believe that they are trying to turn the BYOND economy around. I don't know for sure what their financial status is, but I don't imagine them going broke soon. But I don't think that dragging more people (more loss) into the equation is helping.

They proclaimed it is $1 for a key per year. What the hell is $1?

$1 is money, yes, but not that much. I find $1 on the ground. I sent Dantom 100 BYONDimes, that should pay for 10 keys for a year lol

So you're saying they lose one dollar a year for each key, right? Do you know how many keys there are?

About 10,000.

Last I heard it was around 52,000 keys.

That could decline rather fast if they do 2 simple things

1) Allow people to delete key(s).
2) Have a 60 day inactive period, then delete the key.

This is getting into a whole different issue (if it didn't already) but I don't think it would be wise to allow deletion of keys, unless nobody could registered that key again. In that case the purpose is somewhat defeated.

No. It's in multiple online programs, if the account is inactive, it's deleted. Then someone else can create, if they don't take the time, or have someone login there key within 60 days, then it gets deleted. 60 days is alot.

I have this program in Alacrity Online, and it works with charms.

[Edit] Even if the key that was deleted was a popular BYONDer, that a newbie now owns his key, then so be it. I thought this was about Dantom losing money? Well I suggested a way to solve it. [/Edit]
