I always get bored in school so I was wondering if anyone knows a site where I can learn how to play a solo PnP RPG that has no dice or cards or anything to buy. JUST Pen and Paper.

Guy used to toot The Window's horn -- it's a minimalist RPG. I've never tried it, myself. Since gug.com doesn't have a link to it any more, I'd think you'd have to ask him for one (after you search for it on Google: +"The Window" +minimalist +RPG would probably work wonders). It's at www.mimgames.com. (It does use standard polyhedral dice, but you could always imitate those with a couple lines of BYOND code.) I still admire it tremendously, but at the moment I'm waiting with bated breath for Pinnacle's Savage Worlds to come out in March or thereabouts. However, The Window is designed for group role-playing, and I get the impression the question is more about solo gaming -- kind of like the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books. For that kind of experience, I recommend doing some web searches for Interactive Fiction. (One of my oft-postponed projects is to read the Inform documentation and write a BYOND library that mimics the most useful ideas...) |

When I was in school, I just grabbed my trusty notepad and scribbled down some game ideas -- perfect way to spend a two-and-a-half hour lunch block when I didn't have anything better to do (and didn't want to go home for lunch).
