OooooOooooOooo! I'm so excitied!

I am happy to announce that I, Chris, am buying a real, live penguin!! Of course, I will have to save up a lot of money (They are $900-$3000... ouch!) It may take up to a year to gather the money.

[edit] Prehaps I will wait until I am a bit older and a bit more mature before buying a penguin.. until then I can probably buy my second favorite animal - a cockatoo.[edit]

Of course, if you have any extra BYONDimes and you'd like to help me, just send 'em on over to me for the "Penguin fer Chris" fund. =P

I won't rely on BYONDimes to pay for it.. not at all. It would just help with the very hefty bill =P

Thanks all!

Your buying a penguin? Please Jesus be with that poor animal! :-P
*Note the humor*

I hope you can take care of it well. But where will you keep it? And of all the animals, why a penguin?

Aren't you underestimating the cost of maintenance just a tad? You have to provide an environment for the penguin, and food and other necessities. This is a rather ridiculous thing to buy, for anyone who actually needs to save up the money.

Of course, I wouldn't save up the money just for the penguin. I'd get atleast an extra $200-$400 to pay for prehaps building a saltwater pool, food, etc. I've planed the whole thing out. And I'm also considering of getting a job. (which would help a lot)

I just love them penguins!

Of course I'd take care of him/her well. As I said to Lummox JR, I'd be sure to save up atleast an extra $200-$400 for food and environment (a saltwater pool, prehaps even a little house for 'em?). And penguins.. because... I love penguins. I have an obsession you could say. I probably wouldn't be getting him until after my junior year in high school. By then, I would probably have a job to pay for my pengy! =)>

Just so you know lummox, there are more than just artic penguins. There are african penguins which live in 70-110 degree weather, just so you know. They do need a warm tank to live in though.

Lol, i got the image of a penguin in a army tank from my post, I'm going to go superimpose that.

$200-400? It takes me about half a year to spend that much on two cats(Food, Sand for Litter Box, checkups), and I imagine penguins would be...slightly more expensive to keep?

Not trying to discourage you, but are you sure you aren't underestimating the costs? And if you don't have a job, how will you continue to make money for sustaining their environment / feed them?

[Edit: Read this please, Dracon. Why not to keep a Penguin as a pet]

If you wait a few years, cloning might lower the price.

You know, if you're really serious about caring for a penguin, you'll need to do some research. And with that research you could make a BYOND game to simulate penguin-raising!
In response to Alathon
Hmm.. roughly $700 a year, eh? Well, thanks Alathon for showing me this website. If I want a penguin, I want it to be as happy as possible, and living with me with a minimal amount of money would prehaps be harmful to him. For now, I think I'm going to delay my penguin issue until I have moved out of my parents house, into my own home and I have a quite nice of a job that makes a decent amount of money.

So, yeah, probably no penguin for Chris... yet. If I'm still obsessed with penguins when I move out, I'll probably buy one. I'll just have to cuddle with me penguin doll... lol.

That is an awesome idea! As I said in reply to Alathon's post, I should have done more research to the penguin issue instead of just visiting the website and deciding. But maybe I can make "Penguin Land" on BYOND until I get a Penguin Land of my own =)

Why did you guys do this to Dracon? Penguins are his only friends! >=P

As it turns out, there are like 50 varieties of penguin, and only two are arctic (I guess antarctic, really.. but whatever)... so a habitat for it to live in is not as much of a problem as you'd think.
