Half of the people i've talked to hate the new byond site. They just keep whining. I think its nice.

It's very different. BRIGHTER, for sure. I have to say it doesn't have the smooth feel that the previous site did. But it works...

I do not! like this new look. What was wrong with the old look. It looks too childish and is BRIGHTER. I like dark colors and it is hurting my eyes lol.

I'm sure we'll all get used to it, most people don't like change at first.

Well my first experiance with the site was a bad one since I'd been up for a long time and had been adjusted to dim lighting. The I go to the BYOND site and I'm flashed with bright lights that burned my eyes! Almost as bad as the guy in the intro of Fallout 2.

Anyway other than the overly bright display the site feels more compact and organized which is definantly better. But it still is going to take awhile to get used to the color scheme especially on those long nights that extend to mornings :P.
Well, I personally am a deeply entrenched member of the "dark backgrounds, light text" camp... I greatly prefer black backgrounds with white text...

However, I can see the reasoning behind the switch to brighter everything... Bright == cheery... Games == cheery... Therefore, it was only natural for a games site to have bright, cheery colors...

Well, maybe the developer side doesn't need to be bright and cheery (and perhaps dark and brooding would better fit the developer side of things...lol especially since plenty of us seem to be night owls...) but for the sake of coordination, the two sites have to be similar in scheme (the color difference that exists now between the orange for games and blue for developer is probably only a tool to make them distinguishable, so you know where you're at by just looking at the colors)... So, to make them match, if one is bright, the other one has to be bright... It's just a simple design "rule"... If this one were made dark, then the connection between the two would be less visually, and that drop in visual connection would translate to an overall drop in the perception of the connection... Color and similarity have powerful impacts on how things are perceived...

So, the brightness is pretty much a necessity... If only because the games pages need to be bright...

But other than that, I find nothing wrong with the site(s)...

I've read the complaints at the official feedback forum, and I don't see where these people are coming from... I find the new system to be just as easy to navigate as the old one... In fact, in many ways, it's even easier to navigate...

But oh well, change always takes some getting used to...so for a while, we'll have plenty of whiners...lol

The only thing I dislike is the color scheme for the forums, really. I like the layout better here. It looks more professional and its easier to navigate.
I was supprised at first, but I like it. The site kind of needed a new look. This also looks more professional and organized as well.
I dont mind it, will take some getting used to..

but now it has a professional and sterile look compared to the toybox pull-ups look

I dont think it looks childish, but i dont like it much ether. If the side bar never changed and was a frame as it was befor it would be much better, or at least the main area be a frame and the rest be the main document. Kinda hard to explain but i think the change is not a great one, the forums colors are kinda bad with the blue-grey around the main part of the post and the lighter grey on the outside, it makes me think of windows 98 and thier bad color mixes that makes you think "error".
The layout is nice and easy to navigate, i just don't like the colors.

o god i just had to type this all over again -_-
Ok where do i start my oppion? Emm... Its pink, yellow, orange and purple eww O.o At least i saw one improvement in the furoms its all blue and gaming gray :D Thats what i like and it feels that its the best color for this kind of enviroment. in this new color it makes it hard for me to find sertain games it even took me a while to find these furoms.Well i guess must adapt to this furom like everyone else. :( i am still trying to find scary games -_-) Well i guess i am in the complainer and whiner section =P.
I think it wouldn't hurt to keep the layouts with a consistant color scheme. The Developer site, for example, should stick to blue and gray like the menu. I don't like the red link color on the forums. I think blue for fresh links and off-blue (purple, etc..) for visited would be better. The red on gray doesn't contrast enough, either.

The menus could probably be done better, but its just a first attempt at that, so there will probably be some adjustments in the future. I have no suggestions for improvement, so I can't say much about it. (A lot if it is probably because I'm not used to it, though.)

I agree that the players site needs something, but I can't put my finger on what exactly the problem is.

I don't think it would hurt the site any if they converted the menu and the bar on top to frames.

(Of course, people with smaller resolutions could have trouble.)
Simple question.

No offense to people who put hard work into this, but I do too. The least they could do is keep the black background, I can't even make my silver signature any more (<font color=silver>$~Ray~$</font>)

I don't like the color scheme for the games page (as much as I liked the old color scheme). However, I suck at web deisgn. If the colors looked nice, I would be able to tell, but I don't what exactly would look nicer.

They should quit whining, and appreciate the fact that we even do have a website for BYOND. I don't think that it's the fact that they don't like the new site.. I think they don't like the color scheme, like everyone else. I think it's fine. After a while, everyone will get used to it. I love the new site. More professional, organized, and alot easier to navigate.

If people should quit giving their opinions about the site, then you should quit giving your compliments to the site. I personally enjoyed the old BYOND site a lot more.

That made no sense. He did not say that people shouldn't give their opinions, he said that people should stop whining.

Just because you don't like BYOND's new and better look, that doesn't mean you can come here and flame people for supporting it.
