I want 2.5 more ghz :(I'd say an AMD1700+ is more than enough for about everything. Unless of course you are an extreme gamer. And even then it shouldn't lag much at all. Resonating Light |
It's still a tiny bit laggy at 800mhz, but not very much at all. You should have seen it before I cut lag by 50% :P
Anyways, Thats why the reccomended proccessor is 800MHz. Though I use 256 ram, it runs better than 128 but it didn't make an exceptionally large difference. So basicly if you would like to play it lag free you'd have to have probably a 900+ MHz proccessor (Though I don't know what they sell, I do know they sell more than 1,000). Not too laggy probably a 700 MHz+ proccessor. Lots of ram helps but you alreayd have alot of ram. |
I have 256 ram, 800MHz proccessor, and a 56k modem. It only gets bad laggy for people that are like the 3rd to join (though it has probably gotten lagier since the last time I hosted it, since I always have used hosts since then.). But as long as your computer is fast, it should run fine even during hosting (if you have a cable modem + a fast computer, you would be able to host and other people probably wont get any lag eather).
But yes it is because there is about 200+ for loops constantly running. But this is a good amount compared to before. Before I cut lag by 50% with a world proc, I had probably 300+ loops running at once. I wouldn't doubt if it were even 400. Also, you can cheat, but at a price :P This is why I don't let people cheat is for 1) It makes testing it on permanent servers a nightmare (like testing how hard bosses are that before required like 7 people to kill.), and 2) People can't cheat that way, so they cheat by buying my high level items in the BYOND Dimes store :P But when they cheat that way it will only last them through level 100 about. CHeating the other way would make them invincible, which no one wants that :P I would have just encrypted all the vars, or encrypted the entire savefile, but then people would lose their characters that had characters right now :P |
You arent going to find a game that reqiures more than 950mhz right now, and thats for the new mmorpg's coming out right now(and only a select few at that.)
|
Couldn't you just create a new savefile for them when they log in? Like, check it they have a save file, then have a special var for the new savefiles, if the savefile doesnt have that var, then you delete it and make a new encrypted one. Wouldn't something like that work?
|
Nope because people would create cheated savefiles, and then it would register it as an old savefile.
[EDIT] Well, actually they couldn't make a new one but if they had an old savefile, they could cheat that savefile and use it. |

Then there's being online and playing a game. Also you must take into account that games right now may not use up much more than 950mhz. But that will undoubtably change. But hell, If I had the money I would go all out and just buy the new AMD XP 3000+ which is just like having a 3 ghz processor, and maybe even 512 mb DDR RAM. Ehh.. I'm dreaming too much. MMORPG = Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game
This is like Everquest, and other ones like it. |
Well im to lazy/tired to read through the posts but i read the first, here are some tips to make your PC run faster
-Defragment weekly -Disk cleanup weekly -Make sure your Visual memory is at its max I do these things and my Computer runs pretty well, I hardly lag in anything. Well night |
Heh, well I know how that is :(. Gateway really screwed me over in my computer, so I'm planning out what I'm going to put in a customized one.
Product: Cost: 1GB RAM 150.00 HD 180GB 170.00 GeForce4 155.00 Sound Blaster Card 18.00 Now I gotta figure out what processor I should use, handle the motherboard, and other components(The fan, case, keyboard, mouse, etc....) I'm looking at about 1,200 dollars for a good gaming PC. Right now I'v got a 2.19(2.2)GHZ P4 I believe, with 128 PC2100 DDR SDRAM(Which is a big downfall for my pc and gaming.) and a 19GB HD =/. It's a horrible gaming machine! Perhaps if I got more RAM and buy myself some HDs for extra space, then it would be ok. But the machine I'm looking at would be 1000 times better. Problem is, I Best Buy and most of my close computer stores don't carry anything above sticks of 256, and I only have 2 open slots for RAM, so if I want to raise it's maximum potential I'm gonna have to use 512, which I can't find anywhere :( except on the internet. <<>>Kusanagi<<>> |
LOL I know JotDaniel my comp is just as slow and me alone not hosting is like slower than ever. It seems for me to make a game that laggy it would take a lot of for loops :). I couldnt even imagin hosting it and other people joining NIGHTMARE! It is a good RPG thought I just started playing it a week ago and on a scale of 1-10 I would give it an 7. I dont like it how I cant cheat my stats though that brought the fun facter down alot :).
