Gosh, my school's band is going to Toronto for a competition. How idiotic is that, when Toronto has cases of Sars. What if someone catches it and brings it back to our tiny town? Grrr...

Don't listen to the stereotypes! Band people are the coolest people in school (whips out trombone and serenades BYOND community).
Edison High School Marching Band: NJ State Champions for 2001-2002, 2002-2003 school years, hopefully 2003-2004, etc. And the EHS football team never won a single game, home or away. Go figure. |
Im pretty sure you have nothing to worry about. From what Ive heard the Canadian government claims to have it under control.
Anyway, Im sure that if someone did catch it they would notice before they got back and caused an outbreak. |
I agree, band people are no different...but what I don't get is this...how can you letter in BAND!? I play a varsity sport(football) and the peeps in Band can letter easier then I...what is with this sick...sick world!?

Well, then, you haven't been practicing a good 11-12 hours a week for six months (June-November), from the blazing sun to the biting cold, having to perfectly coordinate your own feet with the drum major's hands, looking both ways simultaneously to keep yourself in a straight line. You haven't performed in the rain or the snow, trying not to fall on fields so muddy that they might as well be liquid. You've never had to march a good 3-5 miles in a parade without stopping, constantly keeping in step, feeling your lips and your legs, your hands and your head go numb, desperately hoping that the judges, who notice every mistake didn't notice the one you made but wishing you hadn't made it in the first place. You, my friend, have never been in a marching band. I'm not complaining or anything, just proving that we also deserve respect for our hard work. And you have to admit, a trombone is much heavier than a football, and you get in a lot more trouble if you drop it. (But then again, I've never been a football player, and I've never really celebrated a football victory...) |
I never said anything about band, I don't think theres anything wrong with being in band, or choir for that matter(which I am). I just mentioned that it didnt sound like Raekwan was in that particular band from the way he frazed his original post.
