HELP! resources low! Please Read!!!{edit, still read tho}

I have only 1 program open, AIM (which i can't close, my 19 yr old bros sn is on). My resources (off of "resource meter" in start, programs, accesories, system tools) are as follows:
system resources: 8% free
User resources: 52% free
GDI resources: 8% free

My computer is about to crash. Anyone know programs on the "ctrl+alt+del" window that are safe to close without messing up my comp? anyone know why i have little resources when nothing is open? All i have, is this IE browser, and AIM. Anyone know tips on keeping resources high???

System and GDI just hit 0. I have NO icons, on my desktop or net. either red x in corner, or black square. PLEASE HELP!

Hmm I have no idea.Do you have any programs like kazaa hiding themselves?

Don't know what i did, but my stats are Now:

sys rsc: 52%
usr rsc: 52%
gdi rsc: 70%
