Runescape is a game that could be made on BYOND with out much difficulty. I have a couple of theory's of why Runescape usually has over 10,000 people on at all times.
1: It has what like 16 diferent servers that you can change from server to server and keep the same character. I haven't played a game where if you switch from game to game you get to keep your player. You always have to start a new one so if you made it real far on one character and the host decides to quit..wel there goes weeks of work...
2: Face it.. i dont know of a game with a map as big as Runescape. Even DragonBall Zeta's map isn't as big as it. It takes like over an hour to travel to place in it...
3: I used to play runescape. It takes a long time to get good at that game and if you are working hard on a particular skill, you can't wait for the next day when you can continue to work on it. As opposed to Dragon Ball Zeta when i became like a SSJ3 in a week or something and it was fun anymore..
4: Click move... even though its possible to do on BYOND its not used that often. For some reason its more fun to click then to move with arrow keys...
5: the abundance of different things to do. Basically, Runescape has over 45 quests, over 15 different skills besides fighting. And even with fighting it has like 80 different monsters to fight.
Soooo even though I don't want to advertise making a RS rip but some game with the depth of it would be a nice change from zeta rips, Dragon warrior rips, and Icon trading rips. If you could make a game like that, I would play it for a long time :)

Ha, biggest map you have ever seen? Have you ever played UO, Everquest, DAOC, or Morrowind(not an mmorpg). Most of them have maps that could take 3-4 hours to walk on foot. Runescape only has one thing going for them really, its free. But every server i have been on is laggy as it gets, kinda ruins the fun.

yes i no ive play morrowind on my friend's console and everquest i know is big but i meant that Runescape is so bigger than any BYOND map

Flick's endless lands demo is bigger then the runescape map. You could keep going forever, And never hit the map edge. :P

Maybe someone could make an original game, but with the same system ideas as RS or whatever that game is.
