I have a firewall (I think) that prevents me to host my own BYOND games, could anybody tell me how to get rid of it or change it so I could finally host. If you need any information about my system just ask. Thank you.

Eh, truly I don't have a clue. I don't know where or how...I don't even know if I have one. Thank you for the offer but I have a REALLY fast modem and my computer is on 24/7 so I want to use that to my adventage.
So if anybody could guide me in fixing up the firewall I will greatly appreaciate it! |
So you don't know where the firewall is from?
I also have a very fast connection (T1) and my computer is on 24/7. |
Nope...well, how would I find out. Truly I don't know much about a firewall..what it is or how it works. Except for the fact that it dosn't allow me to host BYOND games. So yes I need basic step by step instructions...

You probably have a hardware firewall built into your router(do you have a router?) if not, your modem too.
You would have to open a port in your modem/router page. ~Blaz3 |
What kind of router do you have? Do you know the ip address of the router? Try going to http://[ip address of router]

Well, I have a Linksys router and my modem is SB3100 Optimum thing...how would I check my IP adress...I don't want to mess anything up. Last time I was playing with that I had to reboot my entire computer... =P

Oh. I don't know then. I have a Westell modem and a *cough* Microsoft router. I usually goto a 192.168.2.* ip to get to my router and a 192.168.2.*** for my modem.

Well, I figured out how to get into my Dos Controll window thing (cmd in run) but now I have to figure out how to check my ip adress. I have Windows XP home edition, I know that will definetly help.
[EDIT] Ok I figured out my IP adress, now what do I do...when I go to http://[My Ip ADress] It just says there isn't a webpage like that... |
You don't want your computer's IP address, you want your router's local IP address (as in, the IP address it uses within your local network).
|
try these: 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1 (two common ips for routers), otherwise check the documentation for your router (if you don't have that go to the website of the routers producer and see if you can download the user manual from the website). When you get in, it may ask for a user name (try admin) and a password. If you know the passowrd has not been set, often it is left blank, so try clicking 'ok' after typing in the user name...
