Almost all DB games not in the FanGames channel get a -100. Most of them are just code from the old version of DragonBall Zeta with the name changed.

All of them are poorly designed, 99% use the same exact code from a game that was crap to begin with, and the majority of people who play them are annoying and moronic. Even the most popular DBZ games are absolutely horrible and lack any originality or quality game design. The people who make DBZ games are almost as annoying as the games themselves. If you want to play a good game, go play My Life As A Spy, I just saw the server up. |
I have to say... there have been two 10's out of the games I've played, good old Dragonball Epic Online, but when we actually had events going on... and the best would have to be DBZ Spar by Ebonshadow... I don't know why, it was just a decent DBZ game, mainly for the fact that they killed the bugs quickly...

"Best DBZ" isn't an oxymoron. It's like "cream of the crop," but with "ap" instead of "op." There's still a best, even if it is about as fun as stepping in something unpleasant.

**GASP** Garthor's alive!!! Well, any how Garthor...how was your trip?
But, to stay on the topic, I'd have to say DBTC is up there in the top 10 (probably the only current one). Other than that, I could see DBEO...if it perhaps had more content and more things to do other than punching around a few dragons and mope around in the gravity chamber. |
How come no one EVER plays DBTC? It's WAY better than Zeta, mainly do to its original game play, and inventive battle system.

DSL company didn't send a bill. Cancelled service after next month's bill was paid (bastards). Got new DSL provider. Said they would take two weeks to hook up. It took three, and then they sent the wrong gateway (my brother figured that one out). I finally got the internet working today at 12:20 AM or so.

here's why:
#1 the battle system is slow and choppy, making all normal DBZers afraid to play, because they can't macro their way to "super-saiyan twelve". #2 It's a DBZ game, anyone else who isn't scared off by a slow game, generally hates DBZ games BECAUSE of the people who need to be "the most powerful person in the world". got it? I play DBZ games, but I hate most of them as well. I think games should not be about raising your powerlevel by hitting the same buttons over and over again. Games should be about community, union, and fun. (online games, that is.) This is why TRUE (not console) roleplaying games are the best. Everyone makes a persona, and interacts with the enviornment. Roleplaying rocks! |
honestly, I'd kind of like to see more out of DBTC... the graphics are shoddy at best, the world is poorly put together, and the battle system is pretty bugged up. (I did like the NPC interaction) To tell you the truth, I'd give it maybe a 6. The best one I ever encountered was DBEO, despite the stolen graphics, it was a good game. Dragonball Online wasn't bad either, except for the constant crashes. at least it didn't take the zeta route of "KILL KILL KILL!!!!! Wait, hmmm... it's got legs... KILL!!!!!!" It took the route of an alignment system.
DBZ games aren't what are bad, it's the people making them. the only reason you see so many, is because people uneducated in making BYONDline games are ripping source code, and then adding their name to the credits and GM list, as if it makes it better. The people aren't actually bad, they are just... uneducated in manners or copywright laws.. or morals for that matter. okay.. by that definition people without morals are generally bad... YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN! ~Ter |
MrBubble,
Don't listen to most everyone else who responded... they're idiots. Well, people seem to like RaeKwon's famous "Dragonball Zeta" or Cinnom's (?) "Dragonball Epic Online", and last but not least, SuperSaiyanGokuX's "DBTC". Search for them on the hub at games.byond.com! =) -Chris |

Everytime you log in there you see one (but most of the time more) of the many Zetas being hosted but no DBTC, so most people just stop checking. It's WAY better than Zeta So are cheeseburgers. $~Ray~$ |
Ok, they're uneducated. Does that mean they don't know that there are a million of the same exact game floating around on the hub 24/7? What is the fun in just copying and pasting code? Making your own code is a hell of a lot better than just copying and pasting and getting your *rip* done in 15 minutes. It is also a challenge. I have a lot of respect for Raekwon and Dracon who made the originals, but it seems like the games have lost a meaning and purpose. You go into BYOND Unpublished Games and all you see is Dragon Ball Zeta: Super Majin BLAH BLAH BLAH. It's out of control. And I know what your thinking. I sold Dragon Ball Z icons. I was just like one of those newbies trying to make dimes and not caring about anyone elses Copyright work. Heck, I changed, so their is no excuse why they can't.

I don't actually like the concept of DBZ, DBZ games or the steriotypical DBZer, but if someone asks which game people thinks is the best DBZ-style game, the way to go is NOT doing exactly what is happening here. Some peoples particular tastes are not interesting/moral/lawful/educated, but that doesn't make them bad.
Worlds: Fight the power! Shut up, Worlds! Worlds: Errr... How about NO! I knew I shouldn't have programmed in attitude! Worlds: Not the off-phrase! Not the off... Baked potatos! Worlds: Agghh! I'm switching... O..F..F.... Better. At least try to respect whoever has started a thread. |
Just because you don't like the way the game was made doesn't mean that other people cannot like that game. The only reason why you might have thought this thread was "flamey" was because of your contributions to it. The person that started the thread just wanted to know which DBZ games are the "good" ones. There are obviously lots of people on BYOND that like DBZ games, and apparently there are some people that cannot understand that.
