Dantom can probably ask the e-mail provider for their IP, then track them down.

I dont know anything about internet tracking, but it would make sense that after his been punished by the e-mail provider, Dantom could get his/her information from them, then use that information to track them on BYOND.
Im pretty sure that pretending to be an employee of Dantom International would warrent the release of otherwise confidential information about the person. Then it would be a case of either figuring out his/her ISP and taking it up with the person in the real world, or tracking the IP on BYOND and taking it up with them over the internet. |
I had an email from somebody like that, but I just deleted it. The subject was 'Lost Password'(No, it wasn't [email protected]). Hmm... I like the smell of fraud... Yummy =)

Yeah, what that guy is doing is wrong. I mean, seriously anyone just don't open it if it happens to you. And hopefully Dantom could do something about this.

I received it, but whenever I smell scams that I have no way of making money from, I simply block the address extension.

In my modest opinion, I would understand if Dantom didn’t bother doing anything to this heckler, because if I were to post every time this has happened to me, the forums would be shutdown. Think about it, if you have enough common sense to comprehend the fact that it’s a scam, your account will remain safe. But if you’re idiotic enough to email back with your username and password, then I guess that’s your own loss. I don’t think it should be Dantoms responsibility for other people’s plain stupidity. This is a very serious problem, and there was an offical answer, to find that answer refer to the following post: [link] I'm going to close this thread since the issue at hand has been discussed and resolved.

If they really needed to use or edit your account, I assume they will easily have access to it, but then again, they would never need to use your account, nor need to modify it in any way.
So people like the one who mailed you for example, are very very stupid and are only wasting their time.
I do pity the people who actually fall for this trick mind you, though.
Anyhow, you did a great thing in what you did, by not sending them any information about your BYOND account.
If he/she mails you again, block him/her from mailing you again and have your Mail supplier get in touch with the Mail providers that are currently allowing him/her to use that address and, ask them to have words with him/her, if not, do it yourself.
