I know this is a little weird to ask this, but does anyone think there is ever going to be a pill that promotes natural regeneration that occurs during sleep and stretches it out during the entire day? I think it might be cool, I mean think about it, you would get about 1/3 of your life back that was wasted sleeping for you wouldn't need to sleep! The reason I'm thinking about sleep so much is I have insomnia for the time being and it sucks! Not only that, but I have had sleep problems since lord knows when, and I am so sick of them. I am always tired in school, and school for me, is so utterly boring that I want to sleep... But I can't sleep during class because of sleep problems! Arg!

I had nearly permanent insomnia between February and April of this year. Let me just tell you that it's something you don't want to experience, whether naturally, or pill-induced.
It's not a problem of the body regenerating, it's a problem of going crazy if the brain doesn't get sleep. |
Same thing happened to me. Only it's still happening. I haven't been able to sleep since June, and yes, it sucks. You feel horrible. At around 2 A.M. I start hallucinating, which in itself isn't pleasant. I constantly feel tired, be am unable to sleep. *Yawns*

Well I'm just glad I didn't have it that long, I seem to be getting over it. I went about crazy just about after the first few days of having it :P

I've had bouts of insomnia for the past few years during summer vacation, its amazing how quickly you run out of things to do when you dont sleep. I'm glad we need sleep, it gets boring staying up for long periods of time.

I wished your brain would store stuff that it sees during sleep... You would like be inside of a movie, every night, regardless of how good/bad the movie was :P
That would be better instead of having just fallen asleep then getting up to what seems to you like a second later depending on hwo you feel beween the periods of time, to the same boring world. Right now you have to wake up while within 20 minutes of dreaming in order to remember something you dreamt, and you only remember 20 minutes within what you dreamt about, if that is a real word. Of course if you remembered everything, as long as you didn't wake up, you could get chased by freddy kruegar for 7 hours straight :P |

Quite frankly I'd rather spend 24-hours a day asleep than 24-hours a day awake.

Ah, so thats when you went temporarly insane, and thought up a new spy agency for your game "My Life as a Spy". I should have known it was from iinsomnia. |

It's a very serious condition if you don't have it checked out. Turns out I am hyperthyroid (rarer and harder to deal with than hyPOthyroid). Now I'm on medication for it, and I can actually sleep. |
but kunark, if in your dream you were chased by freddy kugar for 7 hours straight, you wouldnt know it happened because you wouldnt be able to remember it happening, so as far as you would be concerened it never happened, and i also read about that article...somewhere, anyways if you do catch a sleeping disorder, whats the best thing to do?

from what i recall, it revolved around the discovery of the chemicals, enzymes, etc., in or bodies that deal with sleep and deal with regenerating the energies lost during the day. Apparently there is a chance for some form of pill that could keep you going 24/7 - but i don't think we'll see that in production for many years yet.
