I recently got a new amp, and started messing with recording again. I think this amp makes my recordings sound much better.
Check it out yo:

Well apart from a parts of that just not going together, it sounds good, and pretty clear as well.

That sounds delicious! Did you write that? It sounds like elf rock :)
I'd share some of my recordings, but most of them are just one-man-band covers of Metallica songs. I've got Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, and I'm redoing Nothing Else Matters. God, I love Nothing Else Matters. Nothing Else Matters, The Four Horsemen, and Metal Militia are the best. ;) |

Let me hear some of your recordings! I've been meaning to learn more of their songs. Currently, I can play Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, Unforgiven II, Fuel, and umm I think that's it. [edit] oh yeah, Fade to black Nothing Else Matters is definitely a great song. I personally like No Leaf Clover and Die, Die, Die My Darlin, even though it's pretty short. |

METALLICA IS GOD. Let me hear some of your recordings! Maybe. I'll think about it ;) It's really a neat learning experience for me to record them, because I'll go through and record guitar 1's part, then go through and play guitar 2's part along with it, and plug in my bass and play the bass underneath the guitars! I'm using Cakewalk Home Studio... it's a really neat program! I bought this adapter at Radio Shack for $5 that you can plug your guitar's patchcord into and you can plug it into your PC's microphone jack. It's really nifty. I can play Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, Unforgiven II, Fuel, and umm I think that's it. [edit] oh yeah, Fade to black Awesome! I always liked Unforgiven more than Unforgiven II, but the two songs are of such a different genre, it shows how Metallica's evolved (not necessarily for the better ;)) Nothing Else Matters is definitely a great song. It sure is... it's delicious :) I found a tab for a sixtet (not sure what the actual name for a group of six is ;) of guitars to play it, I'm thinking it'd be a great venture to record each track over each other :) Do you have MSN? I've never really liked AIM and I'd love to send you those recordings ;) |

I'm using Cakewalk Home Studio... it's a really neat program! That's pretty much my same recording process. I use my friends bass that I've been "barrowing" for about a year now. I either record the drums myself or put in some midi drums and convert em' with Timidity to sound a bit better. I bought this adapter at Radio Shack for $5 that you can plug your guitar's patchcord into and you can plug it into your PC's microphone jack. It's really nifty. I tried doing something similar by taking the speaker out on my amp and plugging it into my sound card. For me, that actually sounds worse. I get this nasty sounding hum in the background of everything. Awesome! I always liked Unforgiven more than Unforgiven II, but the two songs are of such a different genre, it shows how Metallica's evolved (not necessarily for the better ;)) I like all of their stuff pretty much. The stuff off Saint Anger I don't particularly care for. I read an interview with Kirk and James about that album and it seems their reason for writing it was pretty stupid if you ask me. They did everything on there just to sound heavy. I mean, kirk stopped playing leads. Kirk has to play leads! That's what makes a lot of their songs work for me. Plus, they don't use any palm muting or alternate picking, simply for that fact they thought it would make them sound heavier. The new stuff isn't too bad, I just think they're trying way too hard to fit in. Do you have MSN? I've never really liked AIM and I'd love to send you those recordings ;) Yep, [email protected] |

I get this nasty sounding hum in the background of everything. I get that too, but most of the time it's from my pickups pointing towards my monitor. It must be the electromagnets it the pickups reacting with something in the monitor. I can usually get rid of it by positioning myself differently ;) I like all of their stuff pretty much. The stuff off Saint Anger I don't particularly care for. I loved Frantic and Invisible Kid... that was about all I cared for. I read an interview with Kirk and James about that album and it seems their reason for writing it was pretty stupid if you ask me. They did everything on there just to sound heavy. Plus, they don't use any palm muting or alternate picking, simply for that fact they thought it would make them sound heavier. Yeah, that's pretty bad... I think they said that they had solos for nearly every song recorded, but they took them all out because "they didn't fit into the song"... I'm thinking that it wouldn't go over well with the nu-metal crowd that they seem to be trying to please... I just think they're trying way too hard to fit in. Which is a shame, because Metallica's always been about going against the norm. Even things like the snake pit and their stage in Cunning Stunts. Those would be so cool to be at! ;) Yep, [email protected] I'll add you up so we can stop cluttering the forum with our Metallica jibber jabber ;) |
Ok, today I started recording Metallica - Fade To Black. I'll finish it tomorrow.

You know what I think of it. ;) I'm going to try and redo Nothing Else Matters to be deliciously perfect and enter it in that contest. Heck, I might even test out my singing capabilities and buy a mic and sing a bit ;) Are you going to add lyrics to your FtB? |
