Hmn..I have looked all around my computer just trying to disable my firewall, if you know how to do this, please tell me.
What firewall are you using? Is it Windows XP's built-in firewall, or a third-party one? If you don't know, then find out. =)

I know that I for sure diabled my thirdparty firewall. I am able to host games only if i host them in a port somewhere in the 1000's. How would I go about disableing my WindowsXp firewall?

It's a third party one...on a router

On a router? Why didn't you say so in the first place? =)

First, ensure that you're using static IP addresses on your LAN. Note down the internal IP address of your computer (it should be something like 192.168.x.x, 172.16.x.x, or 10.x.x.x).

Dig out your router's manual and find out how to change the settings. Usually you point your browser to the router's internal IP address (the one it uses on your LAN); for mine, it's http://192.168.0.1/. Enter the user name and password; the default user name is usually "admin", and the password is either "admin", "password", or blank.

Find the port forwarding settings (D-Link routers, like mine, call it "Virtual Server" instead). Specify that a specific port range, for example 3000-3005, be forwarded to the computer you want to host on (here's where you need its internal IP address; see the above paragraph). You can use any port numbers above 1024.

You have now opened a small hole into your network from the big bad internet, which you can use to host games through. If you have problems, check out this Help Center page for a large chunk of useful information.

*wishes more people would use the search function*

It took me more time to type this message than to find this post: [link] =P

What are the reprocutions if I do it?

Reprocutions? I'm not entirely sure what you mean... o_0

But I assume you're talking about the benefits of doing so? Well, it partially disables your router's NAT function (which functions like a firewall), allowing you to do things such as host games (BYOND and otherwise) on the ports you select.

Or maybe I just completely misunderstood your question before... =)
