Anyone know a basic computer map of the inside? I'm going to try and find my RAM. Also, what can and cannot be touched? Thanks.

Or if you could just tell me where. By the CD Trays, by the HD, the Motherboard. Thanks.
Don't touch anything. No, there's no such thing as that map. Almost every computer is different. What you REALLY have to worry about touching is the capacitors. They're the cylindrical looking thingies. You also shouldn't touch anything, since you can damage your electrical components with a static shock. Before doing ANYTHING inside the case, at the very least touch a non-painted metal part of your computer case. Touch that part again every so often, so a static charge is not allowed to build up.

You shouldn't tounch anything in the computer unless you know what your doing but it's not that hard. Anyways if you need to know where the RAM is is should look like a stick of gum except bigger sticking out like this. I'm gonna try and draw it.

So it should stick up like that. It should be the only thing like that in there and it will probably around the middle but it could be different. It will look like a green electronical thing with chips going on both sides spaced evenly and the chips will probably be kinda big.

That is basicly what ram looks like, it will be sticking out of your motherboard.

Here is a pic of a rather expanable motherboard:

The spots marked ram are were the ram would go, but before you get more ram, make sure you know what type it is (pc100, pc133, ddr, and whatnot).

P.S. On that motherboard pic, it has a slot A proccesser, which slides in kinda like ram, that is why you do no see it or the place were it would go if you are wondering.

Thanks for all the help. I opened it up, found it within 10 seconds, and am now sure I have SDRAM PC100 with a whole lotta numbers I have written down somewhere.

you have all the info you need for more. SDRam and pc 100 is about all you need to know.

pc100 sdram sucks -_- I should know its what im forced to use. I got my computer as p3's came out, and some jackass designed my comp with a p2 motherboard and stuck a p3 in it.

lol, well, i have 2 machines that run on pc100. And 2 that run on pc133. All sdram though :(
Just make sure you grab on to a pure metal object before touching anything inside of it ^_^. Yeah, the manual says it (when I bought ram).
