It's a good thing no one targets lunix, whatever that is. Linux is open source, there's MUCH less chance of security vulnerabilities getting in than windows. Linux also doesn't have a lot of the windows overheads and bloat, which encourages windows to have more bugs.(or features, if you're Bill Gates) It's just harder for bugs to make it into the open source programming model. Open source programmers also don't have to worry about how much the feature is worth in time to implement compared to how much Microsoft is going to make off of it. They also don't have the restrictive deadlines.

But being open sourced, everyone can quickly find new bugs and exploit them if they want. With windows, it is hard to find these bugs, and they get fixed when they are found(well, at least reported).

Much of the time, Microsoft finds the exploits before other people do and they release a patch. People then find out how to use an exploit, and make the worm/virus/whatever knowing that many people won't get that patch. I think the patch to prevent msblast came out a month before the worm. |
