How is my site coming along?

http://www.ivorybyond.cjb.net

Thanks goes out to Maz for the banner.

Good start, but there are a few graphical glitches. Keep in mind that I'm using Mozilla 1.3, so things might display differently than in Internet Explorer.

The banner image has all this empty space around it, as does the "layoutland.net" banner (but to a lesser extent).

Shouldn't the main menu bit be centred on the screen?

You really need to change those link colours; blue just doesn't work with that colour scheme. Try red or orange; pretty and functional. =) (In my humble opinion, red is a much better link colour functionally than blue; it stands out more.)

The black background of the images doesn't work for me with the light yellow background; try making the entire page have a black background.

The image link to byond.com/start has a border, which looks very bad. Use border=0 within the IMG tag to get rid of it.

I couldn't help noticing this line in your HTML: <meta content="MSHTML 6.00.2600.0" name=GENERATOR>. If you must use an editor, please don't use MSHTML! Quite frankly, it sucks. Frontpage and Word (which both use MSHTML; I'm not sure what you're using exactly) are both incredibly difficult to create good layouts in. Besides, they don't even produce valid HTML! Dreamweaver MX is the only decent WYSIWYG HTML editor I've found; if you don't have Dreamweaver, the only acceptable alternate is Notepad. So start brushing up on those HTML skills now. =)

I like the overall concept, and it has the potential to look really great once it's finished. Keep at it! =)

Thank you, I'll sort everything out.

ug... looks horrid in Phoenix (a mozilla-based brower) at 1024x768 resolution - huge gaps between the graphics are most noticeable...(the image tag below is set to 640x480 so that it fits on the screen better, save the image onto your computer to see it full size):

and please take the digitalBYOND link off your page - I did not receive a request from you to be a partner site, and I am not interested in linking to unfinished websites at this time. Once you get some content and the site looks good across a variety of platforms, then we can talk about link trading... Plus digitalBYOND itself is going through some changes, and I don't need people jumping in before I am happy with it.
Looks good! If you send an email to [email protected], we'll put you on the Links page.

I always carry a piece of polished ivory in my pocket. That way, if I ever see a kid crying because he has no ivory, I can just say "Cheer up, kid! Here you go!" and I'll have done my good deed for the day.

Thank you Gughunter. For all of you that haven't seen the new page layout, check it out.

I'm also looking for some people to help me out with graphics, please email me if intersted.

Ok, I know your name is Ivory Wizard, but what's with the cheesy BYOND fan-site names? IvoryBYOND? Think a little longer. Try and come up with something a little more....I dunno...more like....*can't describe*...Theres my opinion.

How is my site coming along?

You need more contrast! I can barely read anything :P.
In response to Airjoe
Don't mortify me. I am very satisfied with my website. Your criticism does not effect me. I have not heard any other complaints about the name. Or if so, they did not speak them aloud.

It's just that after BYONDscape and digitalBYOND the having half the word as BYOND and the other half of the word as some other word is starting to get overdone.
In response to Jon88
Aww... I thought BYONDreams sounded quite catchy, with the channel being called Dreams and everything. Oh well, dislike it if you must but I think it's nifty.

/me likes it.

Eek, that text is unreadable on that background... make either the text or the background black, so that it can be read. =P Changing the link colour to red or orange would also benefit the page a lot.

The links on the left are kind of messed up; the more content there is on the page, the further down the links go! =)

Certainly better than the previous layout, though. Keep it up!
In response to Crispy
You can't read anything at all. Constrast man, contrast!
In response to IvoryWizard
You want to try and look it from my view then.

The text is barely viewable, the main things you can see from first sight is the borders of the tables, which is quite disgusting really. The gaps between the links are too big, you should try a line break when creating your links as a vertical depletion, such as the one to the left on the BYOND site, as a line break looks a lot more tidier than a paragraphed menu.

The display logo at the top is rather small, a larger banner would be better. Background is too plain too... Everything to me seems out of place, the only thing I could say that you really do deserve credit for is your scroll bar, as to me, that is the only item that seems in place with the colours you have chosen for it.

Here is a link to show you what I see: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lee.whittaker25/IvoryBYOND.PNG

Sorry if I seem harsh, but you did want feedback, I don't intend you to stop your website production either, I would more than like you to carry it out, but, with more of a nicer choice of colours, IE; the current one is ok, just, nothing fits together.

Urge to impulsively build someone a web site rising...

Make him one and I'll send you a dime!

Once again Neo, I do like BYONDreams. It works well. But Ivory is like some kind of marble or jewel or something.....from elephant tusks...I think. OK. He is the Ivory Wizard. But IvoryBYOND? It just doesn't make sense to me.

<-Airjoe->

Once again, Constructive Criticism.
In response to Airjoe
Ivory is elephant tusks.

I hear a lot of negative comments, so I decided to change the name to reofby (Realms Of Byond) and a brand new layout with darker colors, still looking for a graphics designer.
