Do people hate me or something for some reason, I mean, I don't remember doing anything to make people mad but doesn't seem like people answer when I ask for help in classified ads... don't know... people do help me when I post somewhere else, but the posts get deleted just as often for some reason, even when I have checked around... what I want to know is why?

Most people are more willing to help someone out who has a reputation around here for being capable, but I don't think you have much of a reputation in this part of BYOND at all. Try putting together a portfolio of examples showing what you can do if you want people to take you seriously. (There are a lot of people in Classified Ads who, to put it bluntly, are hopeless. Sometimes its hard to tell the people who have no clue what they're doing apart from the ones who do, unless you personally know what they are capable of.) but the posts get deleted just as often for some reason, even when I have checked around... what I want to know is why? As for posts getting deleted, that's probably because you reply to posts that get trimmed for being grossly off topic from the original, chatty, flame-ish, or just plain unacceptable. If your post is among the many that gets trimmed, oh well! (They also get deleted if you edit your post saying a question has been resolved.) | |
I mean when I make my own posts... and there isn't much I can do yet... and I can't really do much yet... I'm having trouble figuring out exactly how to use the different variables and such and trying to find a coding teacher. I mean, I understand a few of the very very basic things, but can't figure out enough to make a game... I need someone to be able to explain things to me better...

Practice tends to be the best solution, but if you can't figure something out after reading tutorials, demos and looking it up in the reference, you can generally ask for more information on it in Newbie Central (make sure you let them know that you've already looked it up so they don't go pointing you to the Reference or something). | |
Hmmm... I get tons of people asking me for 'teaching'. The fact is that BYOND coders tend to be either in full time employment as programmers/similar or are kids in full time education.
I know I'm generalising but that is the kinds of people you see running games. I'd say good luck, but you obviously ain't having much... Someone might be interested in a 'joint project'. A good way to learn might be to work with someone more experienced than you. | |
Pretty much would be joint project... I would do what I know how to, and when I get stuck I would ask the person to explain the code. Only difference I see in a joint project would be asking the person to work on something else while I'm doing something

the biggest problem I have is icons... I mean, I probably could learn the coding myself if I tried REALLY REALLY hard... but some clothing for my icons would be nice, and also armor... armor wouldn't be as hard as people would think, I mean, I only want 1 armor done, then I could modify the colors for the rest, and something else that would be helpful but not required is combat stances...

It might not be exactly what you are looking for, but there are free icon packs available from various people. You could probably at least use them as placeholders while you program/learn how to program your game.

What I'm mainly looking for is someone to make clothes and armor for my base icons... both would be simple for a skilled icon artist (the male ones at least) but too hard for me to do... I refuse to use mobs from icon packs...

What I think of SilkWizard is a good ways above what I think of many other posters. In fact I wouldn't have checked out his post that day if he weren't who he is.

*scratches back of his head* Well, it is nice to know it is my lack of fame that has caused problems and not something I've done. I'm luckily getting some icon help now and I'll probably be stopping at newbie central VERY often during the beginning stages of my game. I'm sure BYONDers will love it, and guess what, my first game definatly won't be DBZish... Who knows what projects I'll do once I get my first game done (even if I have to work on it when I'm living on my own I won't give up unless BYOND closes), guess it depends on what people think of it when it is done and what kind of games there are lack of in BYOND.
