I have Web Design this year and I'm only doing work like half the time in it so I need something else to do. I've been playing Runescape for the past week but that game is gay, the computers can't use flash for some reason but they do have Java. And I can't download any huge files.
http://www.jagex.com/ (the makers of Runescape) have a bunch of other fun games at their site, most with a player rating system. SlimeWar is particularly fun. =)

oooh thanx =) I'll add that to my complement of Flash and Shockwave games.

I'm also writing games myself in VB (one week and I've already made a media player and started a full size management game :D) but the school don't let us run .exes so I have to run them through VB.
I have Web Design/Web Authoring as well, and when we're done, we generally play "ThinkTanks" online together... (We installed it to our "H:," personal network drive-space.)

The demo is available to play at shockwave.com,...

Even though that isn't java,... :-x *nervous laugh, hand on back of neck*

Let me be straight if you don't understand a the basic concept of BitBlt you aren't ready to tackle making a game complex enough to warrent the need to use bitblt. Don't be discouraged into not programming but you want to try and work on smaller things and build yourself up to developing a sprite/tile based game.
