YuGiOh Card game question

Lets say Player 1 attacks with Mechanical Chaser(1850/800). The Mechanical Chaser is attacking player 2's La Jinn Genie Of The Lamp(1800/1000). La Jinn Genie Of The Lamp is sent to player 2's graveyard. Now which one of these is true?

1) Mech ATK - La Jinn ATK = LP DAMAGE?

OR

2) Mech ATK - La Jinn DEF = LP DAMAGE

Depends. If the La Jinn was in Defence mode the player loses no LP, if it was in Attack mode then the player loses LP equal to La Jinn's Attack.
