Is it possible? Yes. Will you? No.

Is it possible? Yes. Actually, it isn't really. Dantom does have a partial decompiler, but it's old and produces really bad code. Just recode it from scratch... it'll be better made the second time around anyway. =) |
You can decompile everything that has been compiled by reversing the process. However, the result is rarely very close to the original code. You also don't get the comments.

And it's quite hard to do. Rewriting the code is probably easier than writing a decompiler. =)
Dantom's decompiler is extremely out of date, I'm told (as in, dating to around BYOND 2.0). |
Heh, I had the fortune of having Dan run DBTC through his decompiler when I lost the source a while back...
He warned me prior to sending the output that it was far from perfect, and he wasn't lying...lol What I received was about half intelligible, and half jumbled mess... However, I was very grateful, because what he did manage to salvage for me was highly useful, and covered most of what I had lost (I had an old backup, many versions older than where I currently was)... Interestingly enough, the newest parts of the code were the ones that came out the best... Older pieces were terrible, but the things I had just recently coded were nearly completely intact... But yeah, his decompiler isn't perfect, and for everyone involved, it's probably better to just start over...lol (especially since Dan seems to have been very busy lately) |
I formated my computer, i DONT have the icons, resources, samples i made and included. Nothing! God it took awile to code that too cause i had so many problems, I guess i just wont get to continue my game...
