This is really pissing me off really really bad!
Spy Ware is so out of hand.
I go to launch IE, and my home page was changed. I get a pop up from a Spy Ad-Aware site trying to sell me THEIR program, saying if Im seeing this they magged to put spy ware on my PC.
Then, they make both my CD-Rom drives open up, which have a flip cover over then, so they start slamming into my flip cover, I had to take that down, then a bunch of note pades opened up with the same messgae.
I used my Spy Aware program and found like 131 things, all from the same site.
This needs to stop! They need to put a law agast this or something.

Dus sum also print stuf without yor permisin? Or yell badd words on yor speeckers without yor permisin?

Nearlly every time i start my computer, i dont have spyware, and after about 2 hours use of it, i have managed to get this stupid Internet Opmtimizer BS, i dont know how they can get away with it, changing people's homepages, installing programs without the users consent, its just down right dirty. Instead of all those company's trying to kill people from downloading music, they should be focusing on killing spyware.
I mean really, i have my Internet Security at HIGH and i still get blasted spyware on my computer. Its damn annoying if you ask me. |

Heh, just admit it, you love having Internet Optimizer installed. The annoying ads, the completely irrelivent links, the "We found your page, but you haven't seen the 'Page not found' page in a while so we are just going to act like we didn't find it" attitude.
What more could you ask for? Anyway, from memory if you uninstall IO it will reinstall itself at the next reboot unless you follow specific uninstall instuctions. I can't think of where I found them, but search around for a bit and they are bound to pop up eventually. |

I've got spybot search and destroy, after reboot, it doesnt come back, but the sites i go on, seem to have it on it for some reason.

Yes IO somehow got on my PC without me knowning, and it WAS speedy for awhile, but would constanly kill web sites I damn well knew where up.
Its an invasion of privacy if you ask me, this Spy Ware should be illegal! |
This i believe is a good tip for everyone.
I was watching the ScreenSavers on Techtv the other day, and i heard them mentioned: Make a new User account for Windows, and give it limited Administrator powers. Now, this will of course make it somewhat harder to move files around, etc; But, also, if your user account doesn't have admin abilities for the computer, say, edit any major files/folders, then that spyware that tries to get in might also fail, because it would be coming through the internet, and right into your user account,..which has no options to hide itself! Weee! lol unfortunately, there are still spyware things that will put themselves in the different directories that will just bypass the user accounts...but a majority of the ones i've found on my computer allways are hidden within the User Documents/Settings folders... |

The newer version of spybot S&D blocks all known "products" and downloads of spyware by asking you (when its detecting a self download) if you would like to block it. I've noticed that msn and several other sites (Such as yahoo and walmart.com) have something called "Avenue .b" or something along the lines of that name. But anyway, i suggest dling this program as it really helps prevent, and kill spyware all together.
Oh, one more thing. After downloading and install i suggest you run it after its finished (the install) then more so once a day, or two days. Spyware free! ^^; |

The law shud be that if you install program with spy-ware, thay shud ask you if you want the spy-ware on or of, and you can also change this seting from the configerasen files (in a documented fecher) as well. And wether spy-ware on or of, the rest uv the program shud work normaly just as well. |

I have a spyware that has a popup that tells me to buy a spyware removing program from them...It says "Spyware as been found on your computer..." Then something about buying their thing.

Well apprerently Im not allowed to give out critisim anymore on the froums, cause someone keeps deleteing a post I have posted like 3 times, but they dont give me any reasons.
So someone just close the damn thing. |

Look up at the top of your screen when you're posting and you'll see the moderator message explaining the reason. Actual criticism is fine, lashing out with insults when someone tries to contribute to the thread isn't.

And the second time I replyed, it was much less aggressive. It made me mad what the put. Yes I don't like it when people do that. I had to pay for my PC for my own hard earned money. Matter of fact I don't think anyone would like it people doing that. I consdier it bascially a taunt. |

I'm confused, but not as confused as you are. Why does what he put make you mad? Him ASKING if it happened doesn't hurt you in any way, does it? The very fact that he mentions the possibility doesn't magically put more spyware on your computer, does it?
You start a conversation about malicious spyware and get more pissed when someone talks about some things it could possibly do... why? |

Although I was reading an interesting article at the Financial Times website about how a bunch of countries are attempting to get the internet put under control of the United Nations and the individual countries.
So there will be two sets of laws, local and global. This way a country couldn't make it legal to put up child porn, but could still add extra laws, ie, it's illegal to view BYOND developer centeral.
Anyway, that's a little off topic, but if you're interested you should search around for the article at http://www.ft.com (Sorry, I can't remember the exact location of the article), it's some pretty interesting stuff.
