It's been about a week since our last post, and we apologize for the lack of updates. This week our focus has been on magic and skills in Progeny. So far, we've added in about 7 new attribute-based skills to the game. On a side note, we also finished the character information screen (just waiting on some graphics.)

The skills are as following:

Nova (Intelect) - A large ring of power erupts from the source.

Ice Nova (Intelect) - An icy large ring of power erupts from the source, momentarily freezing enemies.

Sacrifice (Intelect/Elite Skill) - The user sacrifices himself for the team or race. an aura of blood soaked impenetrable daggers surrounds the user momentarily and then the user erupts, causing a wave of death, killing the user and anything in it's path.

Hell's Messenger (Intelect/Elite Skill) - The user fires a large fireball, and on collision or burnout, the fireball explodes causing a radius of damage and causing objects to catch fire(fire dynamically spreads.)

Shake (Focus) - The user uses his strength of mind to dizzy and shake the view of his opponents within a certain radius.

Black Flash (Focus) - Within a certain radius, vision is momentarily blackened for everybody, allowing a chance to escape.


Crush (Strength) - Drawing from his inner mana, the user deals a double damage strike in the form of a crushing blow.



But what are these attributes? They are skills, much like any other game.

Progeny doesn't function on a class basis. Instead, players choose take from their race, racial specialties, and choose to master and minor in 2 different(or same) stats.

Progeny Stats:

Strength - Bulk and muscular power; increases damage output.

Stamina - Stamina icreases the health of the individual.

Focus - Focus is the strength of mind a player has, giving him the ability to distort and confuse opponents. Also sometimes affects intelect attribute skills.

Dexterity - Increases chance to dodge, lockpicking, is the primary skill for ranged weaponry and is required for certain powerful dexterity based skills.

Heart - Allows one to use skills that positively affect yourself and party members. It's the main buffing skill and allows for skills that heal party members. Heart also positively affects the player's 'luck' and may make it easier to learn trade skills.

Intelect - Intelect affects the amount of mana a player has and eventuallys allows access to it's powerful arcane skills.



Racial specialties, combined with major and minor stats, lead to a combination of up to 180 personalized classes.




Finally, in this update we've decided to release the special scroll/rune inscription system we've had in for a while now.

As seen below, the user selects from many possible combos(90 possible) to build a special scroll, with a limited number of uses. These scrolls can only be built by high level magic users, provided they have the right materials, and are free to be bought and sold. These scrolls deal massive damage in many combinations.




We do intend to add some kind of background to make it look fancy :)

Is there going to be some sort of closed testing of this? If so, count me in please! Game is sounding/looking great so far....I like the grass and the HUD lol.

Do closed testers get to be GMs , cuz if they do I want to be a alpha tester too, lol. Jk. But I want to be an alpha tester as well anyways.
Thanks for applying guys, we hope to get alot more as time moves on.

I'd also like to note that we finished up a new TS for the game too.
:) Already 3 alpha testers, not counting the few I received messages from and some good BYOND friends.
Are you serious? You have your typical buffed up Dragonball looking base icon tossed into a world with clashing icons. You must have very low standards for the art work that you use.

I would choose between art work similar to the HUD, or the base icon. Trust me, you will like the results a lot more than what you see now.
