Ok I just made a quick site using that abyss program that was being talked about. Now what I want to see if others can view and how slow or fast the connection is. So here's the link to my site(Just to let you know. I started working on this site about 3 hours ago http://127.0.0.1/Index.html . So what I'm asking you is to see if the site works and if so then try download one of the files and tell me the connection is any good. I downloaded off my site and it went around 1.9MB a sec but I need to know about how well it works with other PC's. Thanks in advance

[Edited]Alright something has to be wrong. I went to my other pc and tried to open the site but no page will come up???
Thats not your IP address, thats your local address. use http://whatismyip.com to get your ip.
Google it.

Since no one else pointed this directly out I'll tell you. 127.0.0.1 is the machines loopback address. 127.0.0.1 is always the network address to the computer you're currently on just like localhost.
Sorry here's the correct link http://192.168.0.190

Sorry for the double post, but does any1 know why the link won't work??? It was working earlier. The only reason it isn't working that I can think of is my Mom might have closed the hosting thnig in the bottom right hand corner. THough I told her not to touch it.

Ugh, i'm tired of this pathetic performance (And out of breath to laugh anymore.)

I'll help you now.

If there is a globe i nthe taskbar the server is on, make sure to check weither or not you have a static or dynamic IP, if yo have a static, great, if not, you'll need to download some refreshing software (-shrugs- Ask for it on aprelium's forums.). As for it not working, here:

You should normally be on port 80, if your ISP has blocked the port then you should be using 8080.

Umm, if im not mistaken, thats a lan ip, you need one more ip out.

If hes on a network and has a router this could be harder...
In response to Karasu Kami
I do have a router which isfor splitting my internet connection between 2 PCs. I'm using a high speed internet connection from charter. Though I'm trying to get a more powerful internet connection.
In response to Codesterz
That is a LAN IP. Your internal LAN address won't help us. At all. =P

Did you try http://whatismyip.com? I'm behind a broadband router as well, and it works for me.
In response to Maz
The sad thing is, the Abyss web server will tell you your IP address.
In response to Crispy
Ok I went there and it said my IP was 68.119.25.221 so then go to http://68.119.25.221/index.html though when I tried it, it didn't work.

Your router also acts as a firewall. You'd need to forward Port 80 to the appropriate computer, just like you would have to if you wanted to host a BYOND game, or anything else, for that matter.
In response to Crispy
Which is exactly what i said.
In response to Jotdaniel
Ohh, boo hoo. Just because your IP gets out doesn't mean you can be hacked easily.
In response to Karasu Kami
I think he was saying that the program will give you your IP to make it easyer to know. I can get the IP of the byond web servers right now with no problems. IP addresses are about as hard to find as a neddle in a stack of neddles.
In response to Scoobert
No, no they aren't.

Its as simple as going to your (DSL and Cable connections only) control panel/Network Connections/Local Area Connection/Support 'tab'

Simple as that, i set my own IP (I use to have dynamic) and memorized it by heart, thats how i host.

And yes, i do have a static ip now.
In response to Karasu Kami
I wasnt saying it actualy assigned it, i was saying it told it to you.
In response to Scoobert
What? I was just saying that they aren't hard to find out...unless your on a network and have a router with a firewall.
