What is you Favorite Rpg of all time.

what features make it your favorite (card system, radar, minigames, pvp.) nothing sappy like storyline or charecters
My favorite Rpg is Final Fantasy X

My favorit feature is how the leveling is completely customizable
Final Fantasy 3,4,6

These are the best RPGs ever made.

(Edit: btw i like these games cause of there sappy storyline and charecters ;))

Obviously the greatest RPG of all time is Dragon Warrior 4, you Final Fantasy heathens.
Storyline or characters are sappy? Newsflash: RPG is short for "roleplaying game"... if not for storyline and characters, it's not an "RPG", just a battle tactics game.

No no no, you're all wrong!

SUPER MARIO RPG IS THE BEST!!!

I completely agree, although I would argue that the two go hand in hand. A good storyline with crappy for mechanics will turn me off just as quickly as great mechanics and crappy storyline.

On a slightly more on-topic subject, I'd have to go with FFVII. While most people detested it for the diferent magic system (see what happens when people innovate? :P), I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In terms of mini-games, I would have to go with FFIX (can you tell I'm a SquareSoft fan?). Tetra master was a fairly enjoyable game. It was somewhat like othello: "Minutes to learn, lifetime to master". It was a simple enough interface, yet it had many complexities. The addition of "regional" rule sets was very nicely done (IMHO).

I do feel that I must mention Xenogears while truding through my list of SS favs. The personal combat system was probably the most dynamic looking of any game at the time it was published. The story was also a big plus. Being one who loves religious mythology of all kinds and finding new ways to look at them, the heavy bible influence was a nice touch.

no no no hedge, ya got me all wrong. I totally agree that the chacters and story make the game, but I didnt want to which game you like based on that, I wanted to know for mechanics of the game. so sorry for any mixup, or long term stress I have caused you
Elderscrolls III. It's the biggest open-ended role playing game ever made. The sheer mechanics and depth of the game are only surpassed by SW Galaxies, but I hate the idea of paying for a game every month, so I still say that Morrowind is the best RPG ever made based on mechanics and whatnot.

Morrowind=borfest 2003

So, uh, going to give any reason for that? Or are you just going to semi-flame randomly?

The modability and sheer graphcics in Morrowind are amazing, its a great rpg, and it has a thick plot which will keep anyone playing for hours. As for me, i have a level 70 character in it, and im playing the Bloodmoon expansion at the moment.

I belive it's a semi-random flame.
I'm not much of an RPG kind of guy. I like RPGs on BYOND mostly because they're online. I tried playing DW1-4 as ROMs on Emulators, and I didn't like it, really. I also played DW1-2 on NES, and that didn't really make a difference. But, if we're counting BYOND RPGs, then my favorite is:

Dragon Warrior Online by SilkWizard. It's great. Great storyline, a bit short, but nice. Lots of monsters to fight. Party system. All around good game. Very fun.

I want Morrowind, and have done ever since my friend got it about a year ago. =P I'll probably get it someday... eventually... when I find it in a store somewhere... =)

I'm playing Morrowind simply because I got it for free with my video card.

GeForce FX5600?

I got it for free, because of the warranty on my old Ti4400.
Avernum 3 would be my favorite. It's not any individual thing that makes it my favorite but because it was so well put together that there were no flaws that iritated me while playing. There is a lot to do and there are no large empty regions like other RPGs like Morrowind of Baldur's Gate. The combat system is well done and you have a large amount of control on how you set up your characters. There is no movement animation or delay so you can move around as fast as you want so you don't spend large amounts of time trying to get from place to place on the overworld map. The maps are well designed and have cleverly hidden secret areas which make sense. The pacing of the game generally is pretty easy if you do everything, but the game doesn't restrict you to any linear path so you can complete most of the game in any order and not even bother saving some of the regions. There is also a sense of urgency unlike most RPGs where you could spend years getting to the max level on basic enemies and still somehow manage to save the world in time, in Avernum 3 cities will actually be destroyed if you don't save them in time(though none of the key locations will ever be destroyed).

All in all Avernum 3 is a great game with a lot to do and never felt like it had any slow periods. It's one of the few games that I actually lost sleep over since I didn't want to stop playing once I got started.

[Edit] Oh and if you want to play its demo(or the demos for the previous two) you can get it over at http://www.avernum.com .
AD&D (Dungeons And Dragons)

All the features make this my favourite :P
