I'm looking for a program that will allow me to do "raised" graphics with speed and ease. A raised graphic is essentially taking a flat simplistic object (such as a basic smiley), then having the program simulate a raised effect, as if the object were in 3D and raised off the page.

Flat:
_______
| |
| |
| |
|_______|

Raised:
_______
| |\
| | |
| | |
|_______| |
\_______\|

I will reward you with 5 dimes if you give me the name of a *free* program that gets the job done the way I want it.

You could probably do it in DM with the Shift() proc. Get your icon, make a copy of it, shift the copy upleft 1 pixel, overlay the copy onto the original icon. Rinse. Repeat until 3dish.

Well, I'm kinda also looking for a program that will do this in a professional manner. I'm sure I could manually design the raised icons myself, but I'd like to get a program that would do a bit of a "shine" effect on the icon. So it looks like a professionally rendered graphic.

Can't help you there, except to mention that most of my graphics smell like a professionally rendered product.

http://www.mediachance.com has a great program called RealDraw Pro that, if I remember right, allows a 30-day free trial. You might want to check it out.

let's not forget GIMP http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/ which basically has nearly all the power of Photoshop with none of the cost!

Sorry for the lack of response. I've been working many an hour the past few days, and have also been developing a few key libraries for the BYOND community. I'll respond once I get a chance to test out some of these programs, as Morph has had to be bumped down the to-do list for another couple days.

(I'm currently trying to create a financial breakdown of the next year of my life, which is my first year of college. It's my goal to have the entire thing mapped out as best I can predict by the end of this week. I'm going so far to include things like silverware and towels. Wish me luck.)
