I bought a pack of Mighty Beanz this morning and they came with no instructions. I visited the website, and while there were several "new games" listed there, there was no listing of "traditional games". Does anyone know a source that lists the standard Mighty Beanz game rules?

Out of curiosity, why? My rule of thumb: Never buy anything that ends with the letter 'Z' in place of an 'S'.

Out of curiosity is why. :) The Mighty Beanz seem to be quite popular, or at least plenty of places on the Internet seem to have them for sale, yet I can't find any "fan sites" for them. They're nifty little things. They contain ball bearings and they have a very small flat spot on each end, so they can stand upright but they're very easily tipped over. I get a kind of "answer in search of a problem" feeling from them; maybe it's a genuine instinct, or maybe they're just stupid time-wasters. Maybe it all depends on who's using them. Time will tell.

Can you slide a magnet underneath a sheet of card stock and make them move around? Maybe that's what they're for. =)

Also possible that they're the next incarnation of the Mexican Jumping Beans, but I forget how those used to work...

Thats the general idea behind them, so I've heard.

Judging by the name, I can't tell if they're the set-up to a stupid joke, or the punchline. :P

So does that mean they also have the next generation of caterpillars in them, too?

Yes.
I'm not entirely sure that there ever really was a "traditional game" for them...

I think they're sort of like "Crazy Bones", which were another collectible toy that was really vague in terms of gameplay...

It would seem that the idea is to promote imagination by encouraging kids to make up their own games to play with them...

A Mighty Beanz related product that can be bought is a track that they can roll down (presumably to do tricks or whatnot)...but I'd bet that even that comes with no real instructions... It just seems like a natural accessory for a toy that rolls and flips and such...

The games you did find listed are probably "fangames" that were invented after the toys first came out...

Sort of like marbles... I don't think there's really an original "official" game for them, there are just a few popular games that someone made up way back when they first grabbed some small glass spheres and some friends...

I think you may be right. They've certainly promoted my imagination. I plan to ponder them this weekend.
