Is anyone else subscribed to Dish Network? I knew Viacom was trying to push another channel (NickToon) into the mix and Dish Network did not want to have to raise prices. I also knew I'd loose a bunch of channels as a result.
However, I did not know what, if anything, would replace the channels for my basic package. FUSE replaced MTV/MTV2/VH1. WAM helped replace the Nick channels. Toon Disney both helped replace the Nick channels and is a funny slap in the face since it's NickToon's competition.
I turned the tv on and found Darkwing Duck! Woohoo! Plus, The Fellowship of the Ring is on WAM tonight. Me likey.
Unfortunately, I'll miss the many showings of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart since I lack Comedy Central. However, CJOH plays the show around midnight. Thank you, Canada.

I didn't notice any change in the service here, but the package is an expensive one (something like $75 a month), for all channels and 10 free pay-per-view tickets a month. We got FUSE, but didn't lose any of the other channels (except MUCH when it became FUSE), and I think we got a few new channels a few days ago (I've only been here for less than a week, so I don't really know).

I noticed Nick was gone, but I didn't notice Toon Disney in it's place. TD already has two channels, exactly alike anyway. The notice on the screen just says Viacom is greedy and Dish Network doesn't want to make our bills higher. If we won't have that, they should lower our bills now.

Do you use a favorites list? If so, you'll have to add the channels to your list. They'll show up in subscribed channels either way.
Disney had two channels. However, I think they were Disney East and Disney West. Toon Disney is new as far as I know, at least for basic subscribers. That said, I'm guessing subscribers to more expensive packages won't see the same chanmels I do. The channels I mentioned probably trickled down from the others. |
Related to this, I want to kill The New TNN/Spike TV for running a marquee on the bottom of the screen every half-hour that talks about calling Dish Network and complaining so you can get those channels back.
Last thing I want to see while watching RealTV or ST:TNG is some stupid thing which doesn't apply to me whatsoever. |
Yes, same. It was on Spike TV, MTV, and one more I think. I mean, is Spike TV itself doing it (along with MTV, the other was Comedy Central) or is DishNetowkr doing it? It must be the channel if everyone is seeing it...

Viacom owns the channels that were airing that marquee, any channel they owned was running it im assuming. It would show up no matter who was viewing(from any service).

Tune to channel 101 for more info on this. Toon Disney is a standard for the Top 100 package, and they are allowing everyone to have that, and a few other channels for free untill this is settled. They are also removing a dollar from the monthly bill untill then also I think.

Supposedly, Viacom and Dish Network reached an agreement. At the moment, I have all of the channels I used to plus Toon Disney, WAM, and FUSE. I'd much rather have the new channels, but I guess they're the ones I'm going to lose. :(
I had 24 hours of music videos. I had cartoons that were still entertaining as an adult. I had commercial-free movies. It was glorious! May Don Carnage and Baloo wipe out Spongebob with depth charges while Ny jumps out of a TPB and mutilates the cast of Invader Zim. |
