I turned my computer on today around 3:12 pm. I was mad becasue all my desktop icons, start bar, and everything is all big. I dont know how to change it. I tried veiw/font size/medium and it didn't change. I almost looked through every setting and still can't find it! Can someone please tell me some places to look to get it back? Thanks.
Right click the desktop background then click settings, and change your resolution to higher. (presuming that for some random reason your resolution has been increased, which has happend to me a few times) Im also sure that there should be an option to change the icons size, I remember this in windows 98...but XP is alot different and It's not in the properties bit
How about, Right click on desktop, select Properties, Effects tab, unselect "Use large icons" checkbox.

Does that do it?

Lol, im not that stupid, but I tried it. :)
Check your resolution settings by right clicking on your desktop, selecting "Properties", then go to the "Advanced" tab. They should be in there.

The higher the resolution, the smaller the stuff on-screen will appear. Normally, at least now-a-days, people use 1024x768, so just set it to that (unless you have an older machine and need a lower resolution). Don't worry about frying the monitor or something, if the resolution is incompatible it will automatically change back in, like, 15 seconds and ask you if it was all good. In this case, click "cancel", or whatever, and try another resolution. However, if everything is fine, then you'll be alright to click "ok", or whatever.

That should fix your problem.
There is the possiblity you are in Safe Mode. And I don't know how to get out or into that.

Simple - restart your machine and during the boot-up process hit, and hold, the F5 key until the boot menu appears and select "Normal". Bam! No more safe-mode.

Ahh I remember safe mode :-P, And Krew would know if s/he is in safe mode, as all the colours go really wacky and most drivers dont work properly.

Colours don't go "wacky" as you say, and its not that drivers don't work. Its that safe mode doesn't LOAD the drivers in the first place, so the resolution and colour depth are all set lower. This is because it IS safe mode and Windows loads as little as possible so that it will run alright and you can fix any problems that may be there.

Yes, hence the fact most drivers dont work, thats what I meant in the first place

Yea, weird, when I turned it on it said new hardware installed, (which I or no one i live with did), and it said something about the drivers.
In response to Krew
Windows XP does have a slight tendency to do that - at the moment its trying to tell me I have new multimedia controllers I have to install. I don't really know what's up with that, but you could try letting it install. If that doesn't work, go into the Control Panel and Add/Remove Hardware. If its Plug and Play, then Windows will detect/install whatever it wants to install off the gun. Other than that, you might have to go for a look through a huge list of drivers and such.

I went there and seen some stuff I don't usally see. I don't know what to delete and what not to.
In response to Krew
I can't exactly help you there. Not from across the planet, or whatever. But, I can say, check with anyone that's touched your computer recently. If they've added anything to the hardware side that you're not aware of. It might also pay the run a virus check, just to be on the safe side.

It goes to 16-color mode, so if he normally operates with colors "normal" people use, then that'd be "wacky" wouldn't it?
